Played 5 sets today, won 4 of them, two matches.
Add this to last week's beating of Kvitova and Kerber.
Has to play the winner of Halep/Konta next, I don't think she will survive that.
I CAN be further surprised though.

I don't know. Halep/Konta is setting up to be a barn-burner. Konta just broke back to even the set. They're both fighters and I think this match will go long. Might almost even things up.

Holy Toledo! TB. Halep had MPs. This is a dog-fight, and a good match. I like both of these women. They have great skills, and a lot of grit and will to win.

Rough TB from Konta, but great win for Simona. Good match, I thought.

Did Sloane play twice? Results have her down for two wins - over Makarova and Georges.

Edit: Just saw @kiu's post - Good job by Sloane.

Mugu takes it easily 3 and 2
She did not face a break point and broke the best server of the game multiple times.
Pretty dominating against the #1 ranked player, #1 seed and the defending champion.
Pliskova's reign ended, just like that.
Win Cincy and Simona will be the new #1 next week.

Muguruza has been playing good tennis all summer. I think she'll take Simona tomorrow. They'll both be amongst the favorites for the USO, even though people say it's wide open.

Garbine is a big match player who rises to the occasion. Simona isn't. I think Garbine wins the match. If they'd met in the semis then I think it's a tougher match for Garbine, but in a final she'll beat Simona in straights.

So true Baron. How many times this year has she been on the brink of taking over #1? All she had to do was win one match and she would have claimed the spot. It's like her mentality is waiting to get it by default (someone losing early and not defending their points) instead of actually earning it. So I believe Pliskobot keeps #1 because Simona didn't win yesterday.
