I am bad at this but I’ll do it any way: Brands, Sousa, Bautista Agut and Garcia-Lopez. I am giving the 2 Spaniards home court advantage.

OK, we split our predictions. Let’s see. I’ll buy you an ice-cream if you’re right.

I’d set my mind on a really big ice-cream, but I knew it. I am happy for Vasek, naturally. I am hoping for Sousa to get to the final, but this is a good opportunity for all 4 players to shine tomorrow so really any result is possible.
We could go double-or-nothing on that ice cream in the next few weeks, and there's a good chance you won't have to fedex one to NYC.   ;-)   You're right...it's a nice title up for grabs for all of these guys, all of them very game and plausible, at this point.  Let's hope for some good matches, and that they all take this bump to the next tournament.

Sousa is through.  Pretty good match with Cuevas actually. Straight sets but a tough day at the office.

Seems the Bautista-Agut d. Johnson match was a thriller.  I'm watching some of the replay now, and there is some very exciting tennis on display.  No North American final, but two solid and trending players in the final, both of whom I like.  Pretty good Valencia this year, I would say.  Much less provincial than usual and some very good matches.  (Small cultural note:  The venue is gorgeous.  It's by the local architect Santiago Calatrava, who is also an international superstar, and just completed the transport hub in lower Manhattan that is one of the jewels of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in my town, btw.  I have no idea how it is for tennis or for fans.  It does have that awful hollow sound that I so dislike about indoor tennis.  But it's beautiful to look at.)

I think RBA will be too strong for Sousa tomorrow.  We'll see.

Sousa wins the title in the 3rd.  In fairness, RBA was treated for a nasty heel blister in the 2nd, and still fought hard.  Second career title for the Portuguese man...won Kuala Lumpur in 2013.
