At least he didn't duff that one. Why does Zed never pressure even the 2nd serve? Sits way back.

Only one break lead now. Can Zed "refuse to lose?" I don't care if he does, as long as he acts like he's in it.

Medvedev doesn't have the right amount of "Moxie" to win on Sunday.. Daniil Medvedev will be another one of Novak's prison bitches. Novak is going to take care of all family business on Sunday..I won't be watching..

Apart from getting a 'serious coach" Sasha needs a sports psychologist
He keeps he track record of not being able to defeat a Top Ten player at GS level.

Best of 5 gives Zverev too much time to mess up.
It's not just that. He played great all tournament, but had the worst game plan possible for Novak. Stood way back and didn't pressure the serve, and decided that he'd just get into a baseline war with him and hope that worked out for him. Who designed this game plan?

I'm just a USTA league player these days but I can clearly see Novak's serving patterns. Maybe some of Us have been spoiled by watching Nadal and Federer being able to break back afterwards being broken..It is what it is. The calendar year Grand slam, he earned it, I guess....

You and antipusher having one of your djoker hating nights... haha

ya know.. this looks sooooo familiar

remember when medvedev was on fire, seemingly unbeatable, winning everything... makes AO final against the GOAT and what happened? ‘He played badly, all of a sudden’

zverev, same exact situation... on a hot streak, winning everything... then, all of a sudden, played badly..

Never gets old huh?

here’s the reality.. when they face novak in a slam, it’s just a completely different ballgame boys and girls.

novak is 1. Defending like no-one else can 2. Constantly attacking, hitting deep and taking ball early 3. Returning like no other can 4. Serving very wel 5. Mentally stronger than anyone except maybe nadal 6. Physically a monster - stamina, speed

So guess what, not so easy to look good against novak. You think zverev played any better bs lloyd harris? Harris almost took first set, choked actually as he had set point on his serve. Zverev didn’t play better.. harris is just expontentially a lesser player than novak

same for medvedev, he faced something formidable...

vs djokovic, any little ufe, double fault or weakness is exploited whereas when these players make same mistakes vs others, doesn’t matter

So moxie, just coicindence that medvedev and zverev, during impressive hot streaks, didn’t look as good vs novak? They just happen to play badly? Hehe

Until the other guys improve their conditioning beating Nadal or Djokovic in a best of 5 will always be a tall task. Djokovic probably could have been out there another hour if needed, Zverev not really.
Zverev is very fit... medvedev is one fittest on tour..

it’s a combination of mental strength, ahthleticism, ball striking, confidence, stamina, court vision/tactics

i don’t think conditioning had much to to with medvedev’s loss at ao final or zverev’s loss tonight... it’s more mental i think.

berretini also didn’t just get tired after 1 set

djokovic’s mental fortitude is uncanny, amazing how he bounces back after losing sets and goes up a break early... he’s like that mutant in x-men who feeds off other’s energy, gets empowered

Zrerev played a great match today, I am not a fan of anyone but fair is fair. Alex clearly played his best level in the first set, tons of winners and just 6 ufe, but he dropped his level in the set 2 as he made 7 UFE midset, but that’s just his playing character.…he cannot maintain it throughout and clear can’t handle pressure like champs do, so he remains slamless and winless against top 10 players in slam….not an coincidence. I also just am ready to say Djoker is the goat whether or not he wins on Sunday. He has done enough to warrant it.

All these next gen have something in common, they have ability but just not enuf between the ears. They can play awesome but not sustain it. Thiem after winning uso last year has been like a dog. Zrerev was clearly in winning position then decided he wasn’t going to keep playing his best to win his first slam. Champs like the big 3, when they have a streak they keep winnin more. Djoker is a great example, he has been hot and he just can’t get enough. Zrerev on the other hand can’t handle pressure, you can just see he is about to double fault or make error before a big point. Happened last year too, when he was about to win the final. The players today, are soft in the core in comparison.
