If Rafa loses this match against this kid I will be the first one to say that he is done and probably I will not see tennis for long time

The guy is going toe to toe so far...Expecting him to come down to earth at some point . Nadal's return position is a bit embarrassing though, considering the guy is not a threat there.
Agreed, I can't understand that return position at all, it's completely silly

Don't worry, Nadal just broke back...

But try to see the bright side of it. It would be better than losing to an injured Federer.... ( :D )

I'm certainly no Nadal fan, but what's up with him tonight? Is he jealous of how crappy Roger played and decided he can play just as badly or what?

A true believer, huh? He's not going to lose. The guy is already sucking wind and it's only 5 games into the 2nd set. Nadal would help himself considerably if he wasn't standing in Buffalo to return serve. For non-Americans Buffalo is about 390 miles north of where the US Open is held. Nadal's not even in the same county as the server..

I am just baffled on why Nadal keeps insisting on staying wayyyy back on return of serve?! This is not a grass court and he is not facing a big server.

It is basically like the Muller match in which the opponent is playing well and Nadal is playing well but he keeps insisting standing way back of the baseline to return serve.

SNAP! I feel like Nadal is having a Shapovalov flashback...only this guy's nowhere near as good. Just way too many UEs from Nadal.

Nah, watching this is painful in all the ways. Nadal deserves to go home and to work in something else. It's incredible that with so much experience and being healthy he can be so erratic with the serve, the return and the shots

The thing with Nadal is that when he is struggling to return of serve he gets really tight and all the aspects of his game suffer. The problem with him is that he is so stubborn that he does not try to change his return of serve stance.

Nadal just raised his level. Let's see if Daniel can hang in there.

What bothers me is that he knows how to do it so why he doesn't move forward?

The same reason you haven't seen Roger coming forward more when that's one way to get himself going. He's trying to hit himself out of trouble. Frankly Roger's looked like he's trying to get some reps in to get the timing down on his shots. Same with Nadal - just keep pounding away and eventually he'll get the timing right.

No, he's won the USO playing aggressively, so he's challenged himself to winning it by playing as passively as possible. He has to pose some challenge, given that almost all the best are missing or upset. :lol6:
