I see he still is resigned to the fate that he is gonna return the service will standing in downtown NYC..I guess that's why he has 15 grandslam titles ..smh
It seems that was a false alarm, today he was practicing very well and not sign of any discomfort
He is going to do well, have some faith and you'll see

Moxie, are you going to the Flushing Meadows this year? I was thinking to go but I have plans to go to Spain at the end of September so unfortunately I can't take more days off at work :-(

Sadly, no, and thanks for asking. I'm about to get crushed by a work project, and I won't be able to escape for my usual first few days, which is my favorite. As far as I can tell, the weekends and the holiday are sold out, but maybe I can sneak something out. Mostly, I will barely be able to keep up with it on TV.

I see, at least after work we will be able to watch the evening matches live, much better than when they play in Europe or in another continents because the different time

Many know I don't believe in a Tignor curse, but this has to be noted: He's picked for a Murray v Kyrgios final. Very bold. And I think he's jumped the shark on this one.

Shapo not only won the quals and made it to the MD but also is the highest seed to do so from the quals draw.
He got his opener against Medvedev, the coin thrower. After he wins that, he faces slumping Tsonga. Once
he beats Tsonga, he takes over Tsonga's octet and reaches QF where he will face hipless Andy. Once he
wins that he gets his revenge match against Sasha. If he can win that, he will face a backless Roger or a kneeless Rafa.

If you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere Shapo.

It is time to check odds again after the market had time to digest the draw.

1. Roger 21/10
2. Rafa 16/5
3. Sasha 7
4. Andy 9
5. Grigor 20
6. Cilic / Nick 22
8. Thiem / JMDP 33
10. Tsonga / Berdych 80
12. Isner / Monfils 100

In terms of percentages Roger has 32% chances and Rafa 23%. Thus Fedal is favored the field.

Oh boy, look what has happened! Isner is given a puncher's chance. The field is that bad:lol3:

While I'm rather thrilled that you and others are worried about one of my favorite young guns, Tiafoe, I think that threat is overstated. He's powerful, though, and has a good serve, such that if Roger isn't 100%, it's not a match that's going to ease him into the tournament. And maybe Frances could rough him up a bit early doors. By the same token, and at the risk of jinxing Nadal, I'm also a bit surprised that folks are looking at Lajovic as a tough 1st round for Rafa. He's a pure journeyman, he's Nadal's (and Roger's) size, and he's a righty with a 1HBH.
Your points are valid. The problem is that it is the first round, and the last we saw of Roger in Montreal is not encouraging. Facing a plucky opponent like Tiafoe will be a big challenge for Roger in the first round. Roger's experience may help him, but Tiafoe will be aware that Roger may not be fully fit or well prepared. If Roger is not able to serve well, he will have a tough match because Tiafoe has the ability to prolong the points.

When it comes to Rafa, it also depend on how fast the surface will be. Lajovic is a good server and he has a beautiful forehand. Like with Roger, experience may help Rafa. Court conditions may be a factor here.

Shapo won't get passed JowillieTs..if he does faces Rafa again,.i would think Rafa would have his "A" game by then . IMO

Is Roger fit? Which is the biggest question. If he is fit, this draw is doable at least till the SF. Facing Rafa and Sasha or Murray is not going to be easy coming one after another.

I don't know if we can expect Roger to be really 100% fit. Can a back injury subside totally in 2 weeks? Remember that even a discomfort can jeopardise his game. However, if it so happens that he is totally fit, he will have a chance at least.

Wow, you should lend me that crystal ball, I'm sure I could win the Lotto too. This time I don't see Shapo (I got it Moxie) going too far, not even beating Tsonga or Sasha unless they would play awful

Tignor's pick has exceeded all his previous stupidities.
His picks are wrong at least 75% of the time.

I think he couldn't see Fed or Rafa winning it, so just went with Murray, even though we don't know a thing about Murray's current form.
All year Murray has been the upset express.

If you were going to make a nonFedal pick, the intelligent one would be Cilic.

It doesn't depend on how fast the surafce is, AO was the fastest HC and Rafa played great there. MOntreal and IW were slow and he didn't, but it isn't the speed, it's him.
And if anything to do with the court, not the speed, but the height of the bounce.

I think it's a riot Fed fans are worried about Tiafoe--I see this on other sites. Not feeling very confident?

You always reduce any statement I make into it's most extreme and simplistic possibility. I didn't say a walkover. I said I think that Rafa will beat him. Could it go 5? Sure. They have before. But do I consider Dimitrov the one to take him down? No.
Dimi was very close to beating Rafa at the AO, in fact it looked like Dimi would win in the 5th, just like it looked like Rafa would beat Fed in the 5th.

In form Dimi is a big threat, I think much bigger than Kyrgious--didn't you just see proof of this?
