Rain stoppage and Halep is at set point!

it doesn't help that Vinci is not giving her(Camila) any pace whatsoever.

Vinci sliced the youngster and knocked her out, she knew what Caro couldn't figure out.

It's interesting base on scheduling of the matches, how Riske is described as having made the second week of a slam, whereas Sloane doesn't although they both made the fourth round of the same slam.

Alison vs. Daniela

Looking forward to that...
Garillo has just said that Riske is the only American left.....hmmmm:puzzled

maybe she meant on this side of the draw

If you meant Carillo, she is such a big mouth blowhorse who just is full of dirty laundry gossip(no offense tossip) never on tennis fundamentals. Her only claim to fame is Johnny McEnroe carried her to RG title years ago, otherwise she has no real tennis credentials

Not going to defend some of the suspect things Carillo has said, but, her credentials are solid and her tenure as a commentator give her more than enough credibility.

And just keep in mind, she has one more slam, albeit it's mixed doubles, than most people whom have played professional tennis.

Calvy, Carillo never talks tennis fundamentals.. she is more of a commentator then a real tennis guru, IMO.. If you like her, that's ok.. I was glad that she left ESPN because the 2 Marys (Mary Jo and her) were driving me nuts with their overanalyzing players when they weren't that good. Christy knows her stuff and Pam does too but not Mary C

Not about if I like her or not, I do like her, but, it's about you questioning her credential. She is a slam champion point blank. Same as Renee Stubbs who's only titles have come in doubles.

Fact is, Carillo is a SPORTS commentator, she does commentating for multiple sports, and she is good at what she does, ya sometimes her preference come through when she's talking, but again she good at what she does.

But she does tell you anything about the way the players hit or strategy.. Listen to Pam or Chris or especially Martina.. Mary C tells nothing

Neither did Bud Collins, nor does Cliff Drysdale or Brett Haber, they're there as the sports commentators more or less. Thats why they partner with Evert, McEnroe's, Fernandez, Martina and Lindsay, whom supply the analytical aspect.

Mary is too much gossip, she always reference the drama especially with the sistas

Why have these others when the good analysts can give insight into strategy, etc? I like Martina and Corina because I learn a ton listening to them. Carrillo is one of the worst. I had no idea she had ever even played tennis based on her inane comments.

she's not an analyst, but a sports commentator. football, basketball and baseball all have them.

She can't tell what she doesn't know. She's nothing but a trouble maker. Yesterday when Serena was sitting and getting her hands together with the cream and scone was waiting she about to start stuff when she said "this is becoming ridiculous" trying to start crap with Serena. I wish they would take her off all the tv stations because the woman does not know jack about sports.

Even though play is suspended, I thought I would check the scores anyway. Poor Halep -- they stopped her match on set point!

My question is : why have commentators and analysts? People who really know the sport should be commentating, not those who spread themselves out to multiple sports and therefore do not fully understand as much as they should. How do we viewers get our opinions heard about whom we want to be in the box?

that's exactly what I am talking about she was trying to create drama when there is no need, she has been trouble for years.. I don't see how Calvy is missing the real Mary

Garillo is just a gossip and rides hard on John s coattails...the only one I like is Chanda Rubin because she is all about tennis.

I updated our Schedule of Play/Scores page to reflect the current schedule, and court changes:

http://www.tennisfrontier.com/news/atp-tennis/us-open-day-8-schedule-of-play-scores-monday-sept-2/

I'll keep updating it all day as things change.

I'm pretty surprised by Pennetta's run. Forza, Flavia!
