Genie withdraws after suffering a concussion. The story is that she fell in the locker room on Friday night??
Probably more to that story, but it is what they say it is for now.

Great numbers for Serena: 6 aces and 0 double faults 18 winners to 6 unforced errors. These are the numbers I was expecting to see from her in a slam, and it was good to see against someone like Madison who possesses a great first serve and a nice forehand. No nerves either from Serena.

Keys is not in the same class as Serena...a 20yr old Serena would still beat Keys.

I don't think anyone is suggesting Keys is on the same level, but she does have a game that is capable of making it interesting for anyone including Serena.

That's really tough for genie, just as she was beginning to get some traction again. Never good to see an athlete suffer a concussion (memories of Azarenka fainting on court after getting a concussion), and even worse is seeing anyone hinting that the person deserved it... pffft

did anyone see Esther Lee in Serena s box...cheering just like she used to do..

Yes. I was so happy to see her. I like Patrick, but sometimes I miss the "old" box members.

Kristina is surely maturing. Now that her game is picking up, She stopped mixed doubles and so on.
Good move. I expect her to make it to Top 20 within an year at most.

its good to see that Serena is still friendly with Esther ...she was always supportive and they seemed to have fun.

I was impressed with Serena's demeanor on court. She finally looked relaxed and focused on just playing tennis and not some pressed upon woe is me who is this who showed up to play player.

That's unfortunate that Genie had to withdraw. She's not my favorite player, but I wouldn't wish a head injury on anyone. I hope she bounces back quickly.
