Congrats to Zheng commies to Venus. While I am happy that Venus put up a good fight, it is somewhat disheartening watching her lose these types of matches. I had hope that she would make it to the third or fourth rounds this year. I hope that she is able to play well in doubles and at least walk away with a 14th doubles major.

I like a multi-slam champ playing, even if she is at the twilight of her career.
She does add to the game. Just because she is a legend.

There might be some truth in that Honey. Because Serena doesn't socialize w/ Maria she has a commanding head-to-head over her. For some reason, Serena and Vika appear to be friendly and I think that's made Serena soft where Vika is concerned. She doesn't have the same fire to defeat Vika than she has over Sharapova.

I'm sorry, when and what did "most of the other players say same about them?"

Kim Clijster's should have won many more championships, so maybe her nice and warm disposition with her opponents did hamper her from winning many more slams.

I disagree with the comparison of Serena's approach to Vika vs Maria. Difference is Maria became this endorsement force as a result of beating Serena at Wimbledon, and unlike Vika, people were stating that Maria was better than Serena, and Maria was being embraced by the American public as if she was American, whereas Serena wasn't getting the same support, that hurt and infuriated her.

This is why you see Serena get up for Maria like no one else, not even Justine.
