I watched it on DVR, so just finished a little bit ago. Coco handled the situation and the conditions perfectly. She was aggressive when she needed to be, but not overly so. Ostapenko— what can you say when someone holds serve once in a major QF? #ICantHold

Ostapenko is a strange and funny player. A couple of years ago I described her play as a world in two modes - with nothing in between. In Iga's match against her she didn't do anything wrong - that's her Racecar mode. Today she played in her Food Wagon mode - lot's of things goes wrong. So we never know on beforehand. Well I like the Latvian dancer.

Barbora Strycova's 20 year plus career comes to an end in the mixed doubles (w/Gonzalez) losing to Shibahara/Pavic 64 76(6)
2 singles titles
30 doubles titles

Wishing Barbora a happy retirement!

because their opponent touched the net w/ her racquet but didn't call it on herself. The umpire didn't see it so Taylor aimed a hard shot at her feet when the girl was at the net. LOL. The girl gestured toward the umpire looking for a call, but there is nothing she can do there. What Tay did is not ideal, it is completely legal. But her and Lil Bit just gave this match away. They were up big in the Super TB and Tay DF twice and Lil Bit committed two UE's

I know that Taylor and Leylah have their eyes on the prize to make the final 8 in the womens doubles finals at the end of the year
I will have to check if this loss sets them back at all., though this match was a QF, so it should not set them back too much
They are coming 7th at the moment, I will wait to the USO is over, also to see where the other doubles teams went at the USO, who are in front of them presently and just behind them

Looks like the lefties imploded at the end...that's too bad

Taylor hit one their opponents on her feet and the girl was angry gesturing to the umpire and Dabrowski was calming her down like she didn't want the drama.Taylor was so animated and lost focus of the match.Leyla is really struggling and I think she is partly responsible for the loss.I think next year Taylor should look for another partner because Leyla is causing these losses..she cannot hold serve to save her life.

she doesn't have to look. I'm sure Alycia would play w/ her full time. Besides, they need to play together so they can qualify for the OG next year.

Great Minds Keli just said the same thing :)
I think she feels like she owes Lil Bit a chance to succeed since they started a partnership this year. Once this year is over, she should tell Leylah, I need to partner w/ someone from my country in prep for the OG and Fed Cup

Agree, Leylah and Taylor have to continue this year, where they have had solid results, presently coming 7th in the race to the end of the year doubles finals,
Good point regarding prep for the OG and Fed Cup stating, needing a partner from my own country

In regards to Leylah and her serve which has gone AWOL, AP and I were discussing the same fact, she needs to go to a coach that can help with the serve, starting with the ball toss

Too bad ..tennis is like all the other sports..you CAN'T loose your focus. Especially when you're up 7-2
