Djokovic has his ups and downs too. A QF meeting between them could go either way. Sometimes Novak steps on the court and is missing tons of balls. And who knows, if (and that’s a big IF) Kyrgios is healthy and playing great he could beat both. Nobody knows, everyone has a chance it’s going to depend who is playing better that week.

If Djokovic is playing well the only threat this whole tourney would be Roger if the latter catches fire. Kyrgios is a threat vs Fed but I don't see it vs Djoker on a slow/medium HC.

Also Federer will have revenge on his mind vs Djokovic not only for Cincy but also for the last few USOs when he lost to him after match points. He will be very motivated.

Again, this is hilarious because we keep calling these rivalries when they're far from it! Of Fedalovic, one player has owned another at different times and Nole has pretty much owned Roger since 2011! Even though he's had chances with multiple MP's at big moments like those USO Semi's in 2010 & '11, Cincy was the last tournament Roger had some sort of advantage due to the court speed! Not even that saved him recently so IDK where he goes from here with us imagining him "getting revenge" by actually beating Novak Djokovic in a major event! :whistle:

Yes, Novak has his own ups and downs. However, he usually tends to come up with goods when he is playing against Big Fellas.
Novak has downs when he plays Lowly folks like Istomin or Marco or Querry etc.

Funny that you discount that Rafa won the tourney last year and has bested Djokovic there more than vice versa. We've debated it before, so need to go over all again, but if logic were to be applied, Rafa would be considered.

Djokovic playing well holds Rafa's balls in a jar. I'd say it's more relevant that a shell version of Djokovic was able to beat him at Wimbledon.

I agree with this. Just looking at their respective games, Djokovic should win, regardless of the number of US Open titles each has. However, Nadal can win by sheer grit. He can hang in there, fighting for every point.

The gist of it is that when Nole is on top of his game Rafa has to play out of his mind to threaten him off clay. This happened in 2013 and even though Djokovic was clearly not playing well for his standards after the close loss at RG, he was still at a pretty high level when Nadal beat him at Montreal and USO. The problem this year is that Djokovic played pretty poor at Wimbledon and still won, and now his confidence has grown.

Juan Martin Del Porto is a big question to me. If he can be mostly healthy at the USO and with a day of rest between matches he’s due for a Major win. I just love the big Argentine Keebler elf.

Tsitsipas, Shapalov, Kachanov, I’m waiting for them to have their Pete Sampras moment when it all coalesces and they make the quantum leap.

Dimitrov seems crushed by expectations.

Don’t expect him to win but hoping for a good showing from Isner, he’s at home and top 12 and among the reborn in their twiliight ( is he 33? ).

Just hoping players don’t limp off the court due to injuries...

Definitely. That is why I put the caveat that Nadal can win with his determination, even though Djokovic is a better player than Nadal on grass and hard courts.

I am hoping for a British win.
Maybe 1 day my luck will be in.
Realistically, though I know I don't stand much chance.
I don't think I'll be doing a drunken victory dance.
I only dance when drunk.
I sing when sober though not when my hopes are sunk.
A Brit could win though against all odds.
