A player like Kyrgios is too fragile mentally and physically and probably won’t make it to Federer while someone like Khachanov is consistant and might give Nadal a tight match like in Canada. A draw might look a certain way on paper but things change very fast.

That being said, Vamos Rafa! :)

Weren’t People saying the same things about Novak before Wimbledon?

Let’s put things in perspective; Federer lost the Masters finals at Cincy; better then 99.99 percent of the ATP USO.
My assessment is based on Federer's form in recent tournaments. He has looked shabby, and I don't think things will suddenly change at the US Open. Federer is a tennis phenomenon, and he plays to win tournaments, not to be in the top 0.01 %. As Darth often says, coming second is not something Federer should be proud of.

Novak has the easier draw. Nadal has Khachanov, Anderson, Delpo, Wawrinka and maybe Federer, and this last one has Kyrgios that is playing worse than ever, he has problems with his hip and knees (almost nothing) Zverev? that I don't see him going too far, Fog? forget it, and Novak who knows, his win in Cincy didn't tell me anything playing vs the worst Federer's level than I remember and he had a lot of work against his previous opponents, the serbian is playing better than these past two years but that's all

Unfortunately Federer's fans love to go the forums and blogs to praise his idol more than anyone else and at the same time they love to critic the others players and more to Nadal but I guess that you know why too, isn't? :p

Federer was abysmal in the final and for most of the week but Djokovic was scary good and contributed to it. It was probably the best match he played since 2016. If he brings something similar here he will hold the trophy at the end. I do agree that his draw isn't especially tough if Fed ends up continuing his garbage form.

Lendl and Sascha getting in some practice.

I think Lendl is a great hire for Sascha. Maybe he'll propel him to the next level.

Federer's game in the Cincy final was horrible, nothing worked for him, the balls going to the net or out of the lines. I think he wanted to play too fast and didn't work too well because he had a wall at the other side of the net and more than anything else the Serbian had the best return so even the Federer's serve was not working so well

I'll be honest, I really did think the USO draw usually comes out on Friday. Also, the work gods always curse me with a great project during the USO. So I may have to leave it to you folks to fight it out in my absence. :lulz2: I won't even get to go to any matches. :( Sounds like Rafa got a good draw, but I don't count on you lot for a dispassionate look at that. Will give it a look. Have a good Open!

Let’s put things in perspective; Federer lost the Masters finals at Cincy; better then 99.99 percent of the ATP pre USO prep.

Sure, Fed reached final at Cincy. You failed to realize couple of things.

1.The person to whom he lost in Cincy is projected to be his QF opponent.

2. You failed to consider the manner of loss. It is not any ordinary loss. Novak won 78% of his second serve points. Fed's ROS was that bad.
Also, while Novak normally wins by attritional play, that is not what happened in that final. Most of the points were very short and yet Novak
won most of them.

There surely is no silver lining in the cloud when you look at Fed's draw.

If you are a fed fan the only theory under which one can be hopeful is the following: a) Assume there was something physically wrong with Fed to give an explanation of why Fed lost in such a meek manner in that final and b) Assume whatever was wrong with him physically improves drastically over the course of this week of break/rest/practice.

Federer should have known betterer. He was their favourite for years, often being offered with first three rounds of no names. But you can't represent Uniqlo at Nike Open without being punished. Fed's punishment is Nole in the quarterfinal. Nadal is now premier Nike doll and he gets all the muffins that he will gobble up in up to 80 minutes portions all the way to the final.

Did Lendl think it was too hard to coach injured Murray?

I don't think Federer is injured. He just flat out sucked for much of last week. That gives us more hope than if he was hurt but still it does not look good. He just has to catch fire, it can happen, but short of that he'd have no chance in the QF and he might not get there if he doesn't play better than he did in Cincy.

Djokovic has his ups and downs too. A QF meeting between them could go either way. Sometimes Novak steps on the court and is missing tons of balls. And who knows, if (and that’s a big IF) Kyrgios is healthy and playing great he could beat both. Nobody knows, everyone has a chance it’s going to depend who is playing better that week. Also Federer will have revenge on his mind vs Djokovic not only for Cincy but also for the last few USOs when he lost to him after match points. He will be very motivated.
