Isner is crap these days though.
I agree with that, but he had already two more wins in the event, and he is the least known of the Americans currently in the top 100, a newcomer in the club, who entered only 2 weeks ago.

Escobedo played well. He'll learn with more matches how to play the big points. He had match points against Isner in the 2nd and 3rd sets and made errors on most of them. He did the same thing against Bellucci on break points and game points.

I think Johnson could take Bellucci today. He's playing very well w/ a good mix of defense and aggression. If he keeps his nerves in check he should win the title.

He won the first set so is partway there!

Leading 4-3 on serve in the second.

Johnson comes back from break down in third set and then wins the match in the TB and takes the title. Poor Belluci. One would think on clay Belluci would win over any American.

Bellucci was always an erratic player. Nothing has changed there. But good win for Johnson, who grabbed his second career title.

Good effort by my countryman Bellucci. Judging by the highlights it was a good match, and Bellucci finally felt the fifth third setter in a row. Anyway Johnson is a fine player, and Bellucci is showing signs he is improving his physical condition, which is a historical problem. Look for him to do well on Madrid in particular.
