That the finals is between Almagro and Verdasco is no surprise. Of the top 8 seeds,
other than these two everybody fell In the 1st or 2nd round, not to mention that
both these guys are Spaniards.

Kind of unfair to have Fernando Verdasco playing 2 matches today in singles and doubles and Nico Almagro none, as Querrey withdrew

I am thrilled to see Farnando finally breaking the terrible losing streak in finals (it was 0-6) and winning his first title since 2010. Score 6-3, 7-6.

Good going alright. Now if he could just work on winning slam matches when up 2 sets to zip before folding like a cheap tent he'd be doing even better.

I am really surprised that Nicky A didnt push and take this is 3 sets. Good win for Verdasco, I still dont trust him to win a big match that count

^Apparently he did have a set point or more in the 2nd, but Verdasco closed it out. Good for him. I see that both of these finalists are playing tomorrow in MC. At least they're scheduled for the afternoon, but that's a pretty quick turnaround with a 7-hour time difference between tournaments. I'd like to see both win, but Verdasco has Cilic and Nico has Mathieu.

Anyone willing to bet against Ferdie V. losing in the 1st round in Paris? I'll take your cash.
