A new name, for this event, sponsor must be some "exotic" Co.:
<<Fayez Sarofim & Co>>

Seeds:
1. J. Isner
2. T. Robredo
3. N. Almagro
4.F. verdasco
5.F. Lopez
6.J. Monaco
7.L. Hewitt
8.I. Karlovic

We need a Smilie for "boring" or "sleeping". Because a clay court Tournament in the U.S. is just a waste. We either need more clay court Tournaments in the U.S. or none at all because the U.S. players just can't play on clay courts :nono

Isn't Isner the defending champ?

The Spanish players in action, did not consider his event a "waste" and showed up here in quite a number, as opposed to the closer to home Casablanca, or Europe, where the action moves for the next few months.
And nothing wrong with the Americans trying to play on clay, that is the only way to get better, by playing. There were 10 US players in the main draw 6 entered by ranking, 2 WC and 2 by qualifying.

Yes, he is and he won it by defeating Almagro, who's career was defined by winning these small clay court events.

After the first round completed, 6 of the 10 americans still in the race, 4 of them fell in the R1: Kudla, Williams, Harrison and Ginepri.
One of them, Sock through by a remarkable upset, he defeated Karlovic 6-1, 6-4.
Today in R2, Querrey upset Hewitt.

Just saw the result on tennis.com. Great win for Brown. He's a very entertaining guy to watch.

Seeds tumble in Houston. So far, only one (Fernando Verdasco) of the top 8 seeds has made it to
QF. As many as 6 have been sown in already.

The QFs are set. Only seeds to make QF are Verdasco and Almagro.
Potential final between them.

Was shocked when I saw that on tennis.com alright but then I didn't know Monaco missed the last 3 months of 2013 with a wrist injury so eventhough Monaco's form is extremely poor last 2 years it must still have had some bearing on the result.
