This is your one-stop thread for discussing upsets, projected, brewing and done & dusted ones.

Before I could even open the thread, Sablenka was upset by Rybarikova.

Sablenka was upset by Rybarikova.

I still can't believe I got this right in a draw challenge, Rybarikova was nowhere recently compared to Sabalenka, but she caught my attention with that SF in Wimbledon and she delivered today.

There are grass court players who come out of nowhere and perform well during Wimbledon. Rybarikova is one of them.

I can't quickly recall the name of one girl (who is grass court specialist) who has beaten Venus more than once at Wimbledon.

Vondrousova the 16 seed also goes down in flames. 2 seeds already gone w/ Naomi still in trouble.

I’m not sure why she and Sasha split, but clearly things haven’t been working out for her since.
Something went awfully wrong for her after that and we don't even know the truth what happened. She should come out and tell why they really split when they were doing something remarkable.

Osaka has never been good on grass and clay, she is more of a hardcourt player.I think she is enjoying the money and has become lazy...
Vee lost to her daughter..this is good for the young lady and let them hype this young lady because she is the real deal..
I think Vee is retiring next year, this loss is not a bad loss let these youngsters get a chance..

Venus would like to retire now, but she and Serena have an agreement that they will play until next Olympics.

Vee looked disinterested and let this youngster get a chance,I hope she retires next year and start a family before its too late...

I know Osaka let go of her coach because she was unhappy. Nothing to do with tennis, we can assume. Who knows if he was abusive with her. But clearly she's having difficulty finding her feet without him. I hope she stops the rot soon, but it's becoming a pattern. She seemed quite emotional in the post match presser. I wonder what's going on in her head right now. Hope she rights the ship. I love her game

She's an emotional person anyway, which is why I believe she called it quits w/ Sascha. I think she was making decisions w/ her emotions instead of using her head. On top of that, she hires someone who was a hitting partner and never a coach as his replacement (also seems emotional). She's not setting herself up for success.

Apparently Sasha has a book coming out.though he has said he would coach Osaka again if she asked him? I do not think he would spill the reason why.Osaka said it was not about money but for personal reasons.,she was looking for a new coach before the AO this year, then decided to stay with Sasha, where she went onto win her 2nd GS title.

Think someone mentioned that Sasha could have had a crush on her or maybe she had a crush on him and he didn't? Don't know, even if any of those were true they could still go on with him coaching her, but as she said she won't go against herself when it comes to personal things. Looks to me like they got too close at some point and her saying in what @Hoergren posted above (btw thanks for that) "I think my reason is I wouldn't put success over my happiness," to me that looks like love. I am here gossiping with women :D, but this is definitely more interesting than the boring seminar I attend.

She appears to be devastated in this interview. I feel sorry for her. She looks just so innocent. A good girl who just likes to play tennis, but seems that she doesn't enjoy it recently. Whether it's connected with Sasha or not, I just want her to recover from all of this and come back stronger.

Osaka should not look back because in the end they will say she won because of Sasha.I think the reason they broke up was that he was probably getting too close and wanted to control her.
