Vekic dismantled Bencic and I find that a bit surprising. Vekic is talented, but almost never delivers. Now she goes against Konta who stopped her at the same stage in Wimbledon 2-3 years ago if I remember right. It was a great match, went to distance in 3rd. I'll go with Vekic this time.

Bottom half of the draw looks decimated, could be even a new woman in the final.

Women's seeds are dropping down like flies. I don't follow WTA that much like ATP, but maybe some expert can tell is this more or less than usual. It does feel like more to me.

This is par for the course in the WTA since Serena lost the #1 ranking. Similar to how the #1 rank has become a revolving door the last 3 years.

Of the 32 seeded women who were supposed to reach the 3rd round, only half of them, that is sixteen exactly, made it there.
That is pathetic conversion rate. But, it has been like this in the past few years in WTA and in that sense, it is not really a shock.
It is as if the meaning of seed is almost lost.

Also, another interesting feature in WTA recently is that, the upsets are not even limited to lower seeds. They are pretty
much evenly distributed in the entire hierarchy.

In other words if you want to watch some of the higher seeded players live on the stadiums, then better buy tickets for early rounds. Otherwise you might not see them at all.

I’m still not clear to me exactly what happened there (perhaps no one knows), but if she initiated the break up, she was an idiot. If it was him, it was an unfortunate time for him to leave, given the success she had been having.
