That's a huge pity, regarding JMDP. I'd love to see him have even a single season where it all goes well for him, but he seems cursed... :(

Well, that renders the Hopman Cup unwatchable for me this year.

Shame. Oh well, I would have been focusing on Brisbane regardless.

I heard on Fox Sports Sydney that Nick is having physio on his back twice a day,he hopes to be fit to play Apia International,Sydney, which starts 11th January.

I heard that, too. I just want him fully fit for the AO. If he needs to skip Sydney, then so be it.

The moolah stats of this week's tourneys.

Doha --- Winner gets $195,000 (but there are no byes)
Brisbane --- Winner gets $80,000 (top 4 seeds get byes)
Chennai --- Winner gets $ 73,400 (top 4 seeds get byes)

Also, Brisbane gets you right there to Australia. Chennai gets you closer geographically
and with respect to time zone.

For the top few players in Brisbane and Chennai, it is not a bad deal despite the low
prize money as they would be compensated by considerable appearance fees based on their
stature. Last year, Fed got a million dollars in appearance fee alone for playing in Brisbane.
This year, I am sure it would have come down to about half of that as he is no longer a
newbie there (although I don't know as a matter of fact whether he even gets some appearance
fees this year).

You break your back
You snap your fingers
