Been listening almost exclusively to the new Dylan boxset, The Cutting Edge. It's made up of outtakes from his great mid-sixties trinity of albums. It's fairly addictive and brilliant! Here's an early version of a slow song that was a fast song to start with:

Cool video too. Thanks, Front! :)

Yeah, some beautiful scenery. It was filmed on the island Skellig Michael off the coast of Kerry. They filmed a scene in the latest Star Wars movie there and plan to film there again for the next Star Wars too. Been meaning to go there for years but never got around to it. Looks beautiful.

This 12th volume of the Bootleg Series is one of the best. It's fascinating to discover all of the permutations these masterpieces went through in the studio before arriving at the final versions. It's also interesting to hear what was left out.

Now if only they would release everything from the Blood on the Tracks sessions ...

Any Paul Simon fans here? He has a new album due in spring, according to reports. No other details, except the name of the album, which is Stranger to Stranger.

I grew up on his music, but lost touch with it in the 90's. I believe his last record was fairly good: So Beautiful or So What...

Simon & Garfunkel has been one of my all time favorite duos, but I have not checked Paul Simon's solo work as much as I should have. I will definitely check the upcoming album.

One of his best solo albums is Hearts and Bones, which began as a Simon and Garfunkel record until they fought - as these boys will - and Simon wiped Garfunkels vocals from the disc. It wasn't a huge hit record, but it would have been if Artie had stayed, if only because of the interest in the pair...

Check out this cover Kieran, and let me know what you think. It is from a heavy metal band named Disturbed, which I love very much, but this is a huge stretch for the band, especially the singer. He never sings like that but the real singer comes out after the 3 minute mark and around 3:15, I get goosebumps !

I love it! Crikey that's strong, and he has a perfect, powerful voice. It's beautiful, and my missus is here beside me queueing up to share it on Facebook. Brilliant stuff. And it's years since I heard that song, what a beauty! I'll have to stick the headphones on now. Definitely goosebumps. Great video too!

When he is at the "And the people bowed and prayed" part, you feel like screaming " This IS Sparta! " , no ?

Saw them live 7-8 times, have all their albums. They are a bit of an acquired taste, the way the singer sings and stuff, but I have always been a big fan. Hoping to see them this summer in Toronto.

I was very curious as to how they were going to pull the Sound of Silence off, with all the orchestration and what not, but the following video cleared that one quickly. He sings great live too.

Oh I love that live version! I think he's a great singer, and I bet you really like the drums there, eh? Powerful stuff, gets you right in the ribcage...

Bobster recorded this Elvis tune in 1962 for possible inclusion on his classic album Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' but was never released until 2013.

Thanks britbox. This next outtake also dates back to when Bob was recording his 'Freewheelin' album. Great line "there's just too many people, that are too hard to please..."

R.I.P Sir George Martin.
He of course had a lot of success before he became the Beatles record producer (1963-1969) and together they made such a large contribution to music and pop culture. You cannot over emphazise the contribution that this man made to 20th Century pop culture.
