7 greatest? Laver, Federer, Borg, Gonzalez, Nadal, Rosewall, Sampras ... that kind of order for me, not based too heavily on numbers but also on perceived significance (couldn't comment on earlier than Gonzalez since they were too early for me).

Ha! I think that's right. I love Kueten but he won 3 majors at the French only. To put him on and leave Pete off seems, well odd, anyway. If it's a list of favorites, it's one thing. If it's a list of greats, it's hard to leave Sampras off. And he is far from my favorite.
Its a list of my magnificent seven. I know Sampras is a better player than Kuerten and Becker in terms of results but never warmed up to the guy.

Yup, fair enough. Personally, I wasn't a fan of Pete, either. I didn't think about it being a list of completely personal choices.

a hint for you djoko fan, greater players achieve more. Sampras was greater than Kuerton and Becker period, just like Fed being greater than Djoko. Go work for being delusional though.

great list.

thanks, i took consideration of Gonzalez, Laver and Rosewall winning a bunch of real slams at the time (Pro-slams where the best players actually played). I expect Djoko to knock Sampras off the list in a year or two at most, and think he could move higher when he retires.

djokovic has no competition right now.

and he is still outworking them all every single day. imagine that kind of a lead in rankings and still working harder than ever.

he is not after pete's slam record and rafa's slam record. he wants all the records. he has his eyes on 18-20 slams.

he will kill all 3 birds with a single stone.

both Borg and the Clay Warrior (Rafa) will be known as the ultimate x-factors in the sport:

both could have easily won more slams. both walked away too soon.

people have to learn to understand this. Rafa is out there but he does not care to win. so he walked away without talking away.

Rafa gave away at least 3 slams due to reckless and careless management of his fitness and his training.

and then you can add 2 more RG crowns which he could have won. 2015 and 2016..

he is simply done winning titles, let alone slams.
