Please excuse me for being a bit thick but what does fps stand for?

While on the note of abbreviations do you know what p.s.i. stands for, please? I come across it a lot the other week when I was reading a book about steam trains. I know it's a pressure measurement but that's it. I felt like asking this question on what Mrzz calls the science question thread but knew I'd done our scientists heads in by asking more questions than an inquisitive 5 year-old at times & I haven't seen much of the scientists here recently. They must be busy. I hope they're o.k. I miss them.

I've been really busy recently. I took a creative writing course at work & have been advised to write historical fiction. I was caught writing poetry on reception by the secretary. I was asked to show her what I'd written. She started singing what I'd written & clicking her fingers. She said it made a good poem but sounded a lot better as a song & would make a much better song. She couldn't stop singing it. I've also been asked to write a poetry book. The problem with writing a poetry book is a lot of my poems turn into songs. I just can't win

I'm flattered that people enjoy my work & this is good news but it's also going to be hard work & it can be a bit off-putting if you write something as a poem & it turns into a song instead.

(I managed to catch a bit of Wimbledon last week including the news that Sue Barker was retiring which I thought was sad. What do you think about Sue Barker retiring? *Watching TV was a bit of an achievement as in Dad's last years he was in charge & we watched what he wanted or nothing at all then he got paranoid & did nothing but watch TV in his last months & from what he said we could tell he was influenced by watching too much TV. In the end, he thought more about the TV than us. I'm scared of getting like Dad & think that if I watch too much TV I'll get like him.)

Since this is the chat thread, I'd like to share some news for anyone who's interested who I haven't already told.

I've been very busy. As well as working & doing training for work, I was a chat moderator & events planner on another forum as well as being a forum archivist, a forum editor, a forum newbie mentor, a mod & an admin on another forum.

I got sent on a creative writing course at work. I've been asked to write both a historical fiction & a poetry book. I've also been asked to write a poem about cats for a friend. Due to a recommendation I joined a poetry site where you talk to poets, make friends, share poetry with each other, have rhyme-offs with each other for the fun of it, enter contests, create your own contests & learn more about poetry. I've entered 6 contests & got 3 honorary mentions, 1 bronze & 1 silver. I'm thinking of writing my poetry book & trying to get it published when I get gold.

I'm very sorry if anyone thought I was abandoning this site. I have missed everyone & their conversations. (I'll have to share more of my poetry here again.)

So my mom was in hospice care after a series of heart attacks , somehow was still with us completely bed ridden for 4 months. No quality of life.

Siblings splitting care giving duties, so this week my older sister’s turn. Monday my wife’s mother has a heart attack, rush to drive where she lives & she has another massive one and this past Thursday passes away. Funeral plans underway.
Sister calls me Saturday “ Comeback, Mom is fading”. Rush back to say goodbye before Mom passes away Sunday.

Organizing back to back funerals for both moms.

So my mom was in hospice care after a series of heart attacks , somehow was still with us completely bed ridden for 4 months. No quality of life.

Siblings splitting care giving duties, so this week my older sister’s turn. Monday my wife’s mother has a heart attack, rush to drive where she lives & she has another massive one and this past Thursday passes away. Funeral plans underway.
Sister calls me Saturday “ Comeback, Mom is fading”. Rush back to say goodbye before Mom passes away Sunday.
