This is indoor season and he's beaten him just once in 2013 when Federer had a bad back the whole year. Good luck to any Nadal fan thinking Nadal is unbeatable indoors lol. The low bounce means his top spin is rendered useless. Game over, man. Game over.

Rafa and Medvedev played for the first time ever in a final this summer (Canada) and it didn't go so well for the inexperienced one.

The inexperienced one did pretty well one measly month later. Fast learner. Best player on tour as of now, bar none and pretty sure he'll be the new world number 1 by Wimbledon at the latest, possibly well before.

It’s 10-4 in slam meetings and Nadal will get the most slams record too. So you enjoy your “indoor”. ;)

That being said I think Federer would rather see Nadal tie him with a 5th YE#1 instead of Djokovic passing him with a 6th one.

If Federer does beat Nadal in Paris or WTF, he is actually hurting himself. B-) So I don’t think Federer’s motivation will be very high in such a match, cause he would help Nole. :bye:

First time replying to your garbage in ages but suffice to say if you think Federer wants to make his h2h any worse with Nadal by deliberately not trying to win just to stop Djokovic getting year end world number 1, you're an even bigger moron than most here thought. Federer, like any self respecting player is trying to win tournaments he enters, especially when it's a big tournament. Duh.

Your beloved could feasibly go 0-3 to Federer in indoor season if they meet at Paris and get drawn in the same 1/4 at the WTF and meet in the round robin and semi stage. I'd absolutely piss myself.

PS: which does any self respecting player try to do....win another WTF or tank to Nadal to let Djokovic get year end number 1. You live in a sad little world!

This week for Federer is overrated just like the week in Tokyo for Djokovic was also overrated. I don’t expect Federer to all of a sudden be unbeatable, he and his Fanbase will get back on earth next week in Paris just like it happened to Djokovic in Shanghai. Both have been very average since Wimbledon and having one great week in a Atp 500 doesn’t change much. Have a nice day. :smooch:

No one gives a shit and, no, you don't expect anything. You just hope...

PS: it's never overrated when a 38 year old wins an ATP 500 but whatever. Keep on being stupid.

Nadal will still be winning the French Open in his 40s so whatever... :bye:

Congrats to Fed on accomplishing La Decima in Basel.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

He has done the same in Halle as well. Hope he can pull off one at Wimby too.

He now has 103 titles, just six behind Connors. Of course, every one knows that Connors had many weak titles.
Nonetheless, it would be nice to see Fed pass him in pure numbers as well. This looks more doable now (and
looked improbable few years ago).

If they meet and show the best level they showed this year in that one or two matches against each other, better put your money on Maestro.
Don’t forget, there is no clay until spring 2020 ;).
But I admit, only this current level of Roger or the level from Wimbledon would save him. Everything less is a straight set loss.
Rafa is playing the best hardcourt tennis since July . Second is Medvedev however a quicker hardcourt stills favors Roger.. However, Rafa confidence is at an all time high and he knows he can defeat Roger if plays Roger the right way and makes the game uncomfortable for him by controlling the center of the court and keeping Roger off the court with his cc BH.

I don't have any energy for this endless battle anymore. I don't even look in these threads unless it's a live tournament. But it's worth pointing out that Rafa hasn't beaten Roger off clay since 2014. Insane right? Obviously things can change, but just as we needed to respect the trend when it was in Rafa's favour, perhaps it might be wise to do the same now. Just a thought...

Fun fact: only three players have won pro tournaments in the Open Era after turning 38 years old: Pancho Gonzales (5 times), Ken Rosewall (12 times), and Roger Federer (once).

Pancho, of course, is known for being the oldest tournament champion at 43 years and almost 9 months: Des Moines (ATP 250 equivalent) in 1972. But even more impressive was his title at Los Angeles Masters level tournament just a four months earlier, including defeating a 19-year old Jimmy Connors in the final.

Among active players, the 20 oldest title champions are held by three players: Federer, Ivo Karlovic, and Feliciano Lopez.

If Roger wins another Grand Slam, he will surpass Ken Rosewall as the oldest Slam title winner. Rosewall was 37 years, and just shy of 2 months when he won his last Slam, the 1972 Australian Open. Federer was 36 yrs, 5mo when he won the 2018 Australian Open.

That wasn't meant as a diss on Medvedev, if that's what you're implying. I was replying to tented, who said it was funny for De Minaur and Fed to be meeting for the first time in a final...pointing out that it happened with Rafa and a Next Genner this summer. "Inexperienced one" was a rhetorical flourish, nothing more. Indeed the young Russian has had a very steep learning curve in the last few months. Even before he gave Rafa a very hard time at the USO, he beat Novak in Cincy. I don't agree he's the best HC player on tour right now, "bar none." And we'll have to wait and see how he keeps the momentum rolling, but, yeah, his future looks so bright, he's gotta wear shades. B-) :D

Well, no...this one does. Winning a title 10 times is a tremendous achievement. Actually, Nadal fans are rather invested in thinking so. Anyway, congrats to the Maestro for Der Zehnte.
