I do think that first set at the AO had very little to do with Rafa injured.

Agreed on that one RB. Stan not only has the "never-won-a-set" monkey off his back, he's won his first slam while defeating world #1 and #2 in the process. I think he might actually look forward to a rematch.

Rafa looked as though he were sleepwalking through a good deal of his match against Stepanek. If he wants to punish Stan for whipping him in Oz, he's going to have to up his game significantly.

Agreed that the first set at AO was Wawrinka demonstrating his new game and confidence. And yes, Rafa will have to elevate his level to beat either Roger or Stan, if he gets that far. But he does get up for his bigger matches.

Personally (until proven otherwise), I believe if Roger and Stan meet, Roger still has the edge in that matchup.

Same applies to Stan/Nadal and Stan/Djokovic.

Fedrinka match will be the most intriguing of the tournament. I am sure both will be extremely motivated, I hope it will happen.

Guys, one additional tid bit, or actually NON tid bit... I asked Norman if had any information about Soldering. He replied he had no idea what was going on and that every body was in the dark as to his future.

There are times when "no news is good news". This isn't one of them.

It is "good news" for others in the top 10 who did not look forward to playing him. Those heavy groundies and lethal serve were a task to deal with.

I think that the others in the top 10 - along with everybody else - have long resigned themselves to Sod being finished. It's a shame to see a career end like this...

Thanks for the intel!

Nah.. I liked Stan's game but the way he carried on when Rafa had the injury timeout and all that Noise afterwards of that final, I could care less for him.

Why? He stood up for himself...instead of waiting around like a good boy, and letting the imperious Rafa control the situation.

He panicked. The guy was bubbling close to the surface.

Rafa was far from imperious there, I'm afraid. He was in Dire Straits, like Knopfler...

Given Rafa's history it was alright to be skeptical due to the timing. I don't think he was disrespectful after the match either.

Yep...I typed it :D

We've been over this again and again. When pressed, the same 2 or 3 examples come up, and in that sense, after 800 career matches, Nadal isn't the only one. In this case, everyone saw his back go on him. I give Stan his right to complain. Biggest match of his career…he had momentum and didn't want to stop. You, however, are cultivating a myth that doesn't have enough substance behind it. And it's very clear why.
