Rublev has won all three previous meetings with Coric and has never dropped a set to him.
Rublev is vying for his fourth ATP title of the year in St.Petersburg.

Rublev d. Coric 7-6, 6-4. In the finals. 4th title this year.

Andrey looked so solid and nice to see him win in his own backyard. Again all these wins by Rublev this year just confidence boosters for him.

Btw those surreal musical numbers at St Petersburg just kill me.

Coric was up 5-2 in the TB in the first, but blew it and Rublev stepped up. BTW, I did try watching some of this match and enjoyed his game a lot. The show girls at the trophy ceremony? Not so much. Bizarre.

LOL...It was like a time warp, boxing match circa 1975...

BTW Moxie, did you see how emotional Rublev got upon winning ? Sometimes we get jaded a little and forget what a big deal it is to these players to win in front of their homeland; hopefully some of Andrey's family were able to travel to see him during the tourney...

I didn't see it, but I believe it. I'm beginning to like Rublev almost as much as his least favorite aunt does. :)

I thought last year’s US Open final was going to be Medvedev’s launch pad for a great year. COVID-19 has dramatically affected everyone’s year, of course, but there have been events he could (if not should) have won. I‘m disappointed. Now I‘m wondering if, in retrospect, the 2019 final will have been his greatest achievement.

Agreed Tented. But that’s what I was saying at the time and no one listened to me. That US Open was in the palm of Medvedev’s hands at the start of the 5th set and he choked it away. Chances like that don’t come around very often and they can define a career.

Such a shame. He had Nadal completely on the ropes and never delivered the final blow.

Right...that old trick of going down 2 sets and a break in order to lull your opponent into complacency...that kind of "on the ropes?"

Medvedev was not very happy after to loss to Opelka

Notice how Moxie had no comment on Medvedev blowing yet another lead. She wanted to believe it was all about Nadal's greatness in the US Open final, but now we see yet again that it had far more to do with Medvedev than Nadal.

I didn't see it. And obviously neither did you until just now. That match was days ago. Who's really watching that tournament?

Actually I did watch parts of it live. Thanks to your party’s stupid lockdown policy, I am “working from home” some of the time and I am able to catch more matches on Tennis Channel live. Medvedev clearly has a problem with taking control of matches because of how far he stands behind the baseline and how much of a counter-puncher he is at times. He leaves a lot of opportunities on the table and gets himself in overly complicated battles.

What happened in the US Open final was a perfect example, but we have seen plenty since, especially last year at the World Tour Finals. For him to have blown the lead against Nadal with such an immense advantage in momentum was a very troubling indicator for his ability to close out matches where he has the upper hand.
