Funny about all the attention this got on twitter and Facebook. The only reason she took the trophy to Russia is because she hasn't been home in Florida yet. She flew to Denmark right from Australia for a small visit and right on to Russia - so where should she place the trophy? There's a lot of hate from Halep fans. I understand they are dissapointed, but give it a rest.....

Well she has a home in Florida but the trip goes to her primary home in Monaco. Not playing next week and then she goes to Doha.

Very impressed that Woz won the match right after the AO final. She is showing it is possible to keep it together. How many times have we seen others lose dozens of matches after winning a major?

Petra crushes Ostapenko. If only she can play focused tennis more often.

Yep - sort of expected that - and you can see from the stats why
DVC-M2-WAAEa7p7.jpg

Very low serveprocentage . tons of balls into the net on return. Returns were too wide and too long - except when she used her forehand it worked fine today - look at the UFE. First 4 points in first set Caroline played well and dominated the match then her body slowly broke down. Glad she played and not just retired with a lame excuse like so many have done. She's not playing next week and her next tournament is in Doha and then back to the US - Indian Wells I think. Next week will be at her main residence in Monaco.

I imagine she was very tired...more than she probably thought. Get some rest and recreation, Caroline.

I did not see the match. But, sometimes people tank the match when in this kind of position. You really don't want to play in the tournament, but nonetheless have to play to honor the commitment and to pocket the appearance fee. So, win a match to make it non-obvious and then tank.

Well you never see Caroline tanking and in this match definitely not but watch the highlights which will give yoiu an idea. Too many in the net, too wide, too long and her serv didn't func after half of first set. Her forehand worked but the reest - her intentions were there but her body didn't follow order. If you think you can understand that the final in AO had worn her out - remember her opponent were hospitalized for 4 hours after the final for dehydration. It's the same when you have to play 2 matches on the same day and final day after - saw that in DOha last year. So no tanking. And Kasatkina was good too.
