Kieran said:Simona is currently like a lot of players we've seen who can be implacable destroyers in the early rounds, but once the spotlight's on full blast and the gold bullion at stake, she drops a calf. She went away too handily today, losing the last 8 games, and her last five service games. Regardless of how well Serena played - and she's the most formidable force in WTA - this is disappointing. I think she has it in her to have a few dominant seasons in the sport when Serena tails off, but she really needs to win big somewhere next season...

Azarenka started out that way as well. It took a few years of hovering in the top 10 before she put it all together and started winning the big moments.
Only if she qualifies for a protected ranking. In order to do that she would need to be out for at least 6 months and make an application w/ the WTA.Sundaymorningguy said:kskate2 said:Kieran said:Simona is currently like a lot of players we've seen who can be implacable destroyers in the early rounds, but once the spotlight's on full blast and the gold bullion at stake, she drops a calf. Speaking of Azarenka, she is currently #32 in the world. I hope that changes quickly because if she finds her form quickly that will be quite a nightmare for any top player who might run into her early. I wonder if she might receive a modified seeding in Australia since she has performed well there.
