how's that for motivation: If Stan the Man Wawrinka wins this, he'll overtake Roger in the Race to London!

One more seed lost in R1, Paire retired against Llodra at 0-3, I hope he is not injured.
Only 3 seeds left, Ferrer, Wawrinka and Chardy.
David has a tricky opener, against Malisse, who's crafty on grass.

And Ferrer loses the opening set. At least Malisse will get some exercise against Ferrer. Mr Flemish Fries needs it. Go Malisse!

Xavier serving for the match

EDIT: And he's done it. Takes out David, the top seed. The seeds got really clobbered in this event.

^ nice work, convincing upset of the number one seed, in straights. even wider open for Stan now.

probably nothing to worry about for David. he'd been playing a lot, so why not take a little extra rest. and he's at a point where he shouldn't need those small-time tourney points that much anymore - going after them too much could actually hinder his chances when it counts the most. that said, for a rhythm player like him it's probably not ideal to get so little matchplay on grass. i guess the draw in the first couple of rounds will be a little more relevant now.

ferrer admitted that last week he was practising on hardcourts apparently ??.

nice move daveeeeed. looks a bit of a clown, bet the x-man was laughing if he knew before, having acclimatised at queens.

soo daveeeeeeeeed goes from thr glory of playing in a major final to losing 'early doors' in a 250event ..

he has lost 2 matches in a row...the square-headed warrior will now scuttle off to Wimbledon.

There are only two seeds left here in the drw for the QF and they face each other today:
Wawrinka - Chardy.

On the same half of the dra, GG Lopez just booked his place in th SF beating Hernych 6-4, 6-1.

On the top half, hich is wide opened now, some grass specialstst facing some lettle experienced guys on the main ATP Tour:
Malisse - Bautista-Agut
Mahut-Donskoy
I am really intrigued by this last match, because Donskoy came into this event with 0 wins on grass and he managed to take out back to back 2 big servers: Isner and Haase.

I hope Donskoy does well in his upcoming match with Mahut. I watched both of his previous matches, and he maintained his composure, served well, and tried everything on his returns -- literally leaping into them, esp. against Isner.

Stan def. Chardy 6-4, 7-6 (2)

From here on, he has to be considered the overwhelming favorite.

Nicholas won the first set 6-4, they are on serve in the second

Mahut won in straight sets. Sets up a SF w/ the other grass court specialist: X-Man.

Wawrinka made the finals. Why is he replacing Federer? He's trailing by 400 points or so in the race to London.
