Serena has announced, in a Time Magazine interview she will return to Indian Wells this year. Here is the article, and a video of Serena announcing her decision.

Personally, I'm at a loss for words right now. However, my 1st reaction after reading the article and watching the video is :

:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

However,in a further up to date article regarding Serena returning to Indian Wells, there is no indication as yet from Venus that she will be returning to play at Indian Wells.

Good for her! A good amount of ranking points to get there. Looks like she wants to keep #1 too. This is a good story for tennis.

As I said last year when there was debate about her playing IW, she is adding to her legacy by doing this. I applaud her decision and willingness to forgive. She is setting a good example.

Well, I'll believe it when I see it. We went through this last year didn't we? That would be great for this whole thing to finally go away. Let's hope it actually happens.

“I’m still as driven as ever, but the ride is a little easier. I play for the love of the game. And it is with that love in mind, and a new understanding of the true meaning of forgiveness, that I will proudly return to Indian Wells in 2015.” Serena Williams, 2015

Good for her. She seems to be in a happy place and just wants to enjoy the game. I have never seen her so relaxed on or off the court. Her self-deprecating "come-on" fist pump after the hinderance call during the final just says it all about Serena 3.0.

Great news, I welcome it.

I am not sure whether I would do it, if I were in her shoes.

It is even more difficult to do so when you are in strong position as she is right now.
She does not need the tournament as much as the tournament needs her.

Perhaps, may be one can forgive only from a strong position.

So is Serena planning to play IW and Miami right in a row? At this point in her career, I would pick one or the other and Miami is the one she seems to really enjoy.

I must say I was a bit surprised with this news,as Serena wasnt on the original playing list to play Indian Wells,of course the officials and tournament director are over the moon with Serena's decision to play,I will be most interested to see if Venus plays there now,so far no word from Venus.

I think its a nice book end to her career and her legacy. Not everyone in a country needs to love a player just because they are from their country. The accusations at that time in the Williams sister's career that they chose winners of matches between the two of them looks silly in retrospect. We now know the clear differences in their style, mental fortitude, and just that Venus is a more fragile gentle soul. It was wrong that it ever happened but I think the country as a whole and the tennis community has come a long way.

Maybe since its close to LA, the hometown folks may come out to support both of the Williams sisters if Venus also appear..

You seem more bitter than Serena herself and don't like the idea.
