Russell tears into Hewitt: "Racist" and a "douchebag"

“To be 100% clear about recent statements on my Facebook page regarding Lleyton Hewitt, unfortunately, my publicist posted those statements without my knowledge or approval. However, I realize it is my responsibility to monitor each and every statement before being posted on my Facebook page, and I hope Lleyton, my fans, and the tennis community will accept my apologies for any misunderstandings caused by my failure to do so. From here on out, I will monitor my page very carefully, making sure all statements made on it are mine. –Best, Michael”

Something sounds fishy about this, his "publicist" posted remarks under his account? Does the "publicist" still work for him? Shouldn't the "publicist" fess up and give a public explanation?

If Michael Russell was ever wasting his money on a publicist, I'd say he was an idiot. He played Newport, which most people ignore, mouthed off on social media about a former #1, and learned a lesson. NOW he needs a publicist. Except that I would say he could still save that money if he'd stop being an idiot.

It smacks of something fishy, doesn't it? By the way, I have no problem with his remarks, no matter how stupid they were. I actually think he was being honest - in which case, I have more problem with his 'apology...'

Agreed. It's highly doubtful ANY publicist would go and freelance in that fashion. Russell made his bed and should have the guts to lie in it.

well, that's if you already assumed that Hewitt is indeed, a 'racist and douchebag' .... from what i know, he isn't actually (i know those incidents btw)

Well, this is why I said his remarks were "stupid", it wasn't a long paragraph, maybe you missed that part...
