Very happy that Murray accepted a wildcard to play Rotterdam.

The best 1st round match has to be Del Potro v Monfils.

Actually, I think bad move on Murray's part. After coming back from injury,
to gain confidence it would be a good idea to win a title. To do that, it would be
a good idea to play in a tournament in which no big name plays. He had such
a tournament coming up viz. Acapulco in which nobody (worth mentioning)
other than Andy and Ferru are playing.

Rotterdam has a strong filed (and ususally has a strong field) and losing there
would only hurt Murray.

Good field. I don't agree that Murray has to win, but he needs to show that he's making real strides. He has won here before. If he feels that he needs the match play, then I think it's a good move.

Krajicek wanted another big name to replace Stan so he contacted Murray who accepted, maybe not a good move for him ?? Let's see what happen after all,Delpo is back after an injury too

Shame about Wawrinka.

Personally, I think it's wise. He (and Roger) made the big push to go play DC from Oz, which was enough.

I agree, in a few weeks there will be the 2 NA masters, no need to aggravate his injury or discomfort, whatever it is.

Let me correct my initial remark. It is certainly a bad move for Murray unless he
is getting a substantial appearance fees.

I think what Andy needs right now is matches. There is a strong field in Rotterdam. It seems like a good idea to me. We can only wait and see.

He's been tweeting about Sochi, Fed Cup, Zagreb and British junior players in challenger events. The sooner he gets back on a match court the better. I'd rather he was playing tennis than watching it.

I agree, Iona. Why should he shy away from a strong field? Match-play, and *serious* match play is what's going to get him ready for the next meat-and-potatoes part of the year. Any intel on this Daniel Evans from GBR who did so well in Zagreb?

I agree Moxie. Playing against a strong field can only be good for him.

I'm afraid I very rarely get to see Dan Evans play. I've seen him live a few times. He mainly plays challengers. He is capable of some great tennis but sadly he isn't consistent enough. He wasn't selected for the Davis Cup because he went against the wishes of the captain. After the Australian Open he was supposed to travel straight to the US but he instead insisted on coming home to the UK. He's close to making top 100 so I'm hoping that proves a real incentive.

Great phield! I love tournaments like this because it's loaded with quality players, yet there's no clear-cut phavorite. Sometimes it's good to have no Pholks, No2e, and Phed playing.

Alright then. But as our member with the most eclectic favorites, perhaps you should also take on Bjorn Phau. :laydownlaughing
