I have a friend strong on Twitter,a huge Novak fan,who I have known for many years, agree's with your post 100%
I can't quote fiero because he always takes it too far. Plus, he always claims to have me on ignore. But let's face it: if St. Roger is getting flak for this, Rafa would have gotten more blow-back, at least from the internet, and Novak, as per Fiero, would have been crucified. It's hard to compare apples to oranges, because neither would have bailed on a Major in the same way, at this point in their careers, but in general terms, that's the order in which they get deference. Even I, as per above, have given Roger a pass on this choice. How do you feel about it, Margaret?

Not everything is about the big 3. The French Open is a Major, for crying out loud, one of the four shining crown jewels of our sport. Nothing comes close, (well arguably Davis Cup was once as important or even more so to some) so the optics of using Roland Garros as training fodder for Wimbledon by any top player doesn't sit well with me.

I have to agree with Jelenafan it does not sit well for me either I am afraid.,as the same reason Jelenafan gave.I think it would be wise for Roger not to have partaken at Roland Garros this year..I understand it was Roger's decision and I am not anti Roger. As a Rafa fan ,and lets say he did a similar thing I would be most disappointed in him.

Well you could have fooled me! I thought everything about Men's Tennis revolved around the sole orbit of "The Big 3!" Every time a Masters falls into the hands of someone outside that circle it becomes news and the only real news! Everyone here has seen me plead witth the "Next Gen" to get their act together and knock these guys off, but our prays have only been intermittently answered! It took a DQ to allow Thiem his lone Major win! Until Nole's knocked off his perch, Nadal's stopped in Paris, and Federer isn't allowed MSM exposure while vacationing, it'll continue to be about "The Big 3" unfortunately! :anxious-face-with-sweat:

I can follow Rogers logic, for sure, but no matter how you twist and turn it, it has at least a bad taste.

Honestly, Fed just had to play the match with Beretinni no matter the outcome. Easy loss, okay, everyone undestands he is coming back. It's part of the process to lose. He would even know better where he is by playing a top guy who is in great form at the moment.

There is a certain feeling here that in some way he thinks he is bigger than the sport and gets away with it, so negative reactions are inevitable here.

I just heard them say that Schwartzman was down 1-5 in the first v. Struff but won it in a TB (saved like 6 set points along the way?) Down a break in the 2nd. Guess he's got Struff right where he wants him. lol

So then is the implication that he's not 100% after the Koepfer match? As in, he couldn't have "just" played the match without real risk of turning something into a real injury? That's kind of what I thought he meant, not just not playing. But does he "think he is bigger than the sport?" Indeed he does, and the powers that be have long given him reason to think so.

Some tennis by the young Musetti to take the first set tie-breaker!

First set Mussetti with courage and talent.

I agree. He should have played the match and swallowed the loss if that was the case.

Did you see that pick up and shot from Musetti to pass Novak right at the net? What feel. What a backhand that kid has, too.

Musetti is playing lights out, his shot choices are unbelievable. Novak will have to dig very very deep to win this

Musetti completely in control here, he dictates all the rallies, even when he loses one there is a feel that he is just the player at the moment.

They just showed 2nd serve stats there. 60% for Musetti and 32% for Djokovic. 60% for 2nd serves is an unreal stat.
