I watched both these ladies matches in peace, by myself, first I would like to congratulate both Bea and Iga for making the SFs
this year,
As I had said previously Haddad Maia had been flying under the radar at this tournament and was quietly going through her draw and winning matches, she turned around this match against The Minister of Happiness, like she did in previous match that also went 3 sets, never count her out, she is a hard competitor and has that lefty serve which she plays to her advantage, I was not surprised she defeat Ons, who by the way has had a great tournament this year getting to the QF, last she went out in the first round

Iga Swiatek on clay is one of the best players I have seen, I have watched some great woman clay courts players in my time, Iga is one of them, she reminds me of Justine Henin in a lot of ways, her foot work is supreme, her heavy fhand is a major weapon on clay, her defense is incredible,, she has been my pick from the start of the tournament.
I hope Coco can find the right coach, I know she has begun to interview, I am not going to sound like a broken record again, what is needed in her game,I think by now that is obvious, though I will say she competed better in the first set, this time, she is a good athlete, has the time to make improvements in her game that is needed, so I hope going forward she can find the right coach that can stay with her for sometime and they can have a good working relationship.

Just my perspective Kieran if you want to build the world's greatest most valuable retailer , are you going to reach out to Jeff Bezos or Mark Cuban and the other members of his Shark tank TV show . Feel me

Serena and Venus can identify with Coco needs better than another former champion or coach. My concern is players like Zverev,Tsitispas, Rublev are getting caught and past by Carlitos and Holger. The same happens with the WTA but their window is much shorter..e.g. Madison Keys career
I don’t agree with that. Great coaches know her needs because they know the needs of anyone to succeed in this sport. But like I say, she’s doing fine, and she’s heading in the right direction. I think the WS would be more a distraction than anything, especially Serena…

Serena as a mentor would be very similar to Davenport is with Keys and her team but hopefully better results..

You know, I admire Serena as much as anybody, but I think ‘Serena as mentor’ would be the same as ‘Serena as anything’ - it would be all about Serena. There’s a reason why great players aren’t often the best to accompany upcoming greats in the trenches. But whatever Coco decides, I hope she succeeds, she’s an exceptional person…

Maybe in a few years, Serena will get off her high horse and be able to coach someone, but right now I agree it wouldn't work! Both Serena & Venus' egos are too big for words! I can still hear in my head after a loss, "she didn't beat me; I beat myself!" It was rude, egotistical, & totally disrespectful of her opponent! And they wonder why they're not favorites in the locker-room! The nerve! :exploding-head: :fearful-face::astonished-face::angry-face:

Yep. Great champion but not somebody I’d want to spend five minutes with…

Ultimately it boils down to Swiatek is technically a bad matchup for Coco. The strength goes up against the weakness, ie You cannot avoid the lopsided FH to FH exchange for a whole match regardless of sound strategy .

Swiatek has few if any weaknesses! The matches are controlled by her and it's up to her if her opponent has a chance! Coco has no chance at this time! I don't watch a lot of women's tennis, but Swiatek & Jabeur are the only ones I can stomach for a whole match! The mindless aggression and sound effects from these screaming banchees just doesn't sit well with me! I miss Barty and Osaka! :exploding-head: :fearful-face::astonished-face::angry-face:

Osaka was gone before she went. Barty left too soon. And I like her. But Swiatek isn’t flashy, she’s not needy, she’s busy and honest. Really like her, and Coco, and Rybakina, who’s recovered well from her senseless sulk after winning Wimbledon last year..

There are a lot of good players currently, than Siwatek, Rybakina, Muchova for one who has made the SF at RG she has a all court game, similar to Ash Barty, though people really need to watch the womens game, it is not always about the Top 3 or 4, WTA has great depth at present.

It’s true, it’s not so interesting to me, but I find those 3 players to be more interesting…

I love watching Iga, Rybakina who has really improved her tennis since she won Wimbledon last year, especially on clay, sad she had to withdraw due to illness, I like a lot of players on the womens tour and what they bring to the tour.

I think there’s a lot of people can help her with that, probably better suited than the WS. But actually I think she’s doing great as she is…
Serena and Venus really faced a lot of microaggressions from the other players, and just saw Iga patting Coco on the back like how Serena .. trying to humiliate her...

I dunno if that’s microaggression - or even what that is. She patted her on the back - signifying what?

They should invite her for lunch or something. She idolize the sisters and it would be good to get advice on handling microaggressions from the media and players. That little girl tried it and thank goodness Coco won.I believe Sloane about racism being at an all time high.

What do you mean, microaggressions, when it comes to Swiatek? You think she’s racist? Is little gesture towards black players, racist?
