BTW no women's night matches at RG as yet? maybe the tournament officials are waiting for QFs or SFs, heard rumors that officials think the woman may not draw crowds, usually womens matches finish in 2 sets?

Not really a great showing from Amelie Mauresmo, as first female tournament director, then, eh? Why don't they start the night session earlier and have 2 matches?

Agree, that is a good point start the night matches earlier, we will see if the women get night matches further into the tournament.

Better yet, starting from Sunday, they should just alternate days between men's and women's singles. Have the women play Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and the men play Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. That would solve all the problems about women not having night matches.

One of the main concerns is women matches at night might not draw the fans? maybe they are waiting for say some top seeds in the draw to play? that might attract more fans

Apparently Pegula got food poisoning on her first night in Paris, she thinks if was from eating salmon, she was ill for a couple of days and it threw her training schedule off, I dont know if this explains her loss to Mertens in straight sets?

Sabalenka doesn’t feel safe in press conferences
Sabalenka, 25, was challenged by a Ukrainian reporter about Russia's invasion, supported by Belarus, after her opening two matches in Paris.

So when she says she doesn’t feel safe, what does she really mean? That the journalists will physically attack her? Or that she feels awkward about being made to feel awkward? So now many news respected outlets - such as the BBC - have been excluded from her press conferences, which isn’t really acceptable.

Now I know some answers will say that politics has nothing to sport, but that’s isn’t related to the question I asked, which was to ask what she means when she’d said she doesn’t feel safe. But the WTA didn’t mind mixing politics and sports when it came to China - and they were right. But only until they discovered that the dollar was their bigger concern…

I read her feelings earlier, she felt she was being grilled and thought it was unfair, I can see her point of view, and by the way she was not fined for not turning up to her press conference, after the other day.Sad that war and politics have come into our game, I want to ask the question why has this not crept into the players of Russian or Belarusian in the mens game? I know that Rublev has signed many times on the camera No More War? it is happening more in the WTA. Agree with your thoughts that the WTA is more concerned with the almighty dollar in China and I posted the new calendar in China on the WTA News and Gossip, at the end of the day it is all about the Almighty Dollar,.

It is a pity when politics gets into sports - I detest all that crooked BLM organisation knee taking virtue signalling BS, and we’ll soon have the bully Nuremberg rally flag of LBTSXXXY+++#?! everywhere soon - but it’s inevitable in some circumstances, such as China and now the war.

But really, what I want to know is, what did she mean when she said she didn’t feel safe? Is this the claim by cowards when they’re asked questions they don’t like? I think she should have been fined, just as it was correct to fine Naomi-me-me! when she withdrew from pressers because she didn’t like questions that weren’t insta-friendly.

Accredited journalists shouldn’t be barred from talking to these players..

Yes there are always two sides to any story at then end of the day accredited journalists are doing their job,
Maybe Sablalenka should have taken a leaf out of Maria Sharapova's press conference's when did didnt like a question she would just stare down the journalist and then say next question :)
