I picked Goffin over Hurkacz. I see he lost in 5 sets. Still I think it was worth a shot.
I went with Hurkacz as the more currently on-form, though Goffin has had success on clay. But, he just doesn't really seem to have it anymore. Maybe it's being a smaller guy? You get older and you lose some speed, your weapons aren't enough to carry you?

Just watching some of Rublev's match he won the 1st set 61 over Djere, noticed recently how he is trying to improve his net game and transition game to the net, must be his new coaching team, and it is paying off., always said he needed more variety in his game.

I watched Goffin against Zverev in Rome. He put up a good fight, but I also don't think he will ever reach the level he used to have before, though he is playing somewhat better than his current ranking of 113.

We are writing in a wrong thread :)

Is it just me these courts are playing slow, it is a warm sunny day in Paris,
Djere won the 2nd set from Rublev 63, Rublev really lost focus in one of his service games and wasnt able to break back, after cruising in the 1st set 61

Just to say: Of your "dangerous players" above, Evans, Goffin, and Vesely all went out today, Day 1. Though Goffin and Vesely both put up a fight.

In good news, Seb Korda won his first match since the AO, coming back from wrist injury.

It's about how they match up with Djokovic. Evans and Vesely are undefeated againt him while Goffin has often giving him close matches especially on clay.

If you are still not convinced how lucky Pushovic is with his draw, one of the rare dangerous opponents in his quarter Rublev is currently losing.

It looks slowish to me too.

Rublev's game is falling apart ever since he won a 1st set and lost the break lead in the 2nd. Some weird shadows too over Lenglen, probably due to that first stage of roof building.

Looks like I will have to watch Renault advertise for 1000 times next two weeks (and FAA entering the car).

Thanks Don, at least my eyes arent playing tricks on me, even some of the players are saying the courts are playing slow
Rublev has 'lost it' mentally and yep his game is falling apart, though credit to Djere.Rublev better get his head back into playing tennis or else he will be out of the tournament in the 1st rd

Gee Jim Courier at least Ben Shelton is trying to improve his game on the clay this season, there is no need for you to say
Ben is impersonating a clay court player at present" one of the reasons I dont like you as a commentator, if that was your idea of a joke, I would try to stick to your day job.

Apparently, talking is his day job, he's just not that good at it. He needs a reprimand like Carillo or Pammie received years ago

Rublev wins 61 36 63 64 over Djere

Thankfully! My voodoo against Djere worked. :good:

The good opponents in Djokovic's section of the draw must be helped and saved. Congrats to Rublev!
