BTW No Body beats Marin Cilic 4 times in a row and gets away with it :)

They're replaying match now on TCC! It's in the 3rd set and Daniil is "just missing" his shots with some double faults helping the Cilic cause! This'll save Novak's #1 ranking for a little while longer! I've only seen Medvedev "scary good!" Even though Novak defeated him in Paris last fall in the final, he actually had to serve and volley to do it! Med's the only player that was going to stop that CYGS last year! He had 2 chances and he won the big one in New York! :shushing-face: :astonished-face::anxious-face-with-sweat::facepalm:

Quite frankly I felt Meddy gave up after the 2nd set, not taking anything away from Cilic, who won on his least favored surface.
Another thing I noticed in the match Cilic was putting balls on different places on the court, making it difficult for Meddy to get to at times.

DM is still vulnerable to drop shots being so far behind the baseline! It's what cost him against Nadal in their USO Final a few years ago! Daniil was gassed running down those drop shots; caught 30 yards behind the baseline! It's obscene after seeing Novak hug the line most of his career! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

He is now lol! Cilic will serve for the match
No he's not, but neither is Medvedev, and Meddie came in pretty cold. Didn't see that one coming, but toss-up, given relative fitness.

I'm way behind, due to insane work, but I will say this re: tomorrow: I can't imagine that Rafa didn't ask for a day match. I get that they are marquee, so why not night? But Rafa is 13x champ, and if he asked and didn't get, that kind of sucks. Because we know he doesn't like night/late matches at RG.

Seeing you are out of the loop, Alcaraz asked for a day match because he has played 2 night matches, he was given a day match which I think is fair enough. In regards to night match for Rafa, it came down to the TV rights and ratings, at night more people will be watching than the daytime, so ratings matter.

I totally get the ratings thing, but if Alcaraz gets more pick over Rafa, then I don't know what. It's a QF, not a SF or even a F, even though it's going to look like a final. I still think Rafa's choice should be given precedence. I have NO idea if Rafa asked for a day match and was denied, but what would we actually imagine?

According to Moya, they did ask for a day match, as I explained Alcaraz asked for a day match and was granted, seeing he played 2 night matches, it is all about TV ratings Moxie, this is not the first time networks overrule sad to say

I work in the TV/Film biz. I know what it's about. I still think it stinks. Alcaraz gets an opinion?! Give me a break.

I did glance past some of that nonsense. But tell me who has more right than Nadal? i know I'm a broken record, but it's stupid, to me.

I understand your point of view, apparently being a 13 time RG champion these days mean nothing.
Let’s face it, Margaret, these tournament organizers don’t necessarily have the ”guts” to do something meaningful.

Remember, Rublev almost hit a linesperson but he didn’t get defaulted from the tournament. Begu hit a young fan from the stands after throwing her racket to ground from sheer frustrations And she did not get defaulted either.

It is indeed a joke....remember the ATP said after the Zverev incident it would be taking a harder stance against players and their tempers for showing no regard for officials eg Umpires, lines people etc...where are they now may I ask, you just showed 2 prime examples and nothing has been done about it than a fine...for both players.

This "harder stance" is a joke.

It isn't just the ATP. It's the WTA and the ITF. I agree with Carillo and I don't agree with her much that Begu and Rublev should have been thrown out.
