Big question for whom will the French crowd cheer loudest - Fed or Monfils??

Roger will shut down the clown's routine and win it in three.

I'm thinking the exact opposite.

The crowd will root for Monfils and Monfils will win in five.

OK, I'll play!

The crowd will be relatively neutral, and Fed wins in 4.

^ I think IF Federer wins in 4 or 3 the crowd will be relatively neutral. If Monfils can get it to 5, they will go for Gael.

The French crowd has always treated Roger as one of their own, in a way, but I agree -- it will be difficult for them not to root for Gael if it's a five-setter. And Gael will do everything short of cartwheels -- who am I kidding? He will do cartwheels -- to get the crowd on his side. ;)

Last two matches (on clay) between these two were won by Monfils.

Roger knows his two nemeses are playing in the quarters and have a tough semifinal. Ever the opportunist, he will give it his best to get through this one quickly. Still sticking with him winning in three. :popcorn

Gabashvili v Nishikori could be a good one. The former is playing very well last few years and I reckon he'll put up a good fight and make it tough for Kei.

I think that Tsonga, Monfils and Gasquet are really loved by their home crowd. Fed has had an easier time so far in the tournament, but this should be an entertaining match.

Gael credited crowd support for his 5 set win over his last opponent.

Difficult to know who will win the match between Roger and Monfils. The French had a little tough time to beat Cuevas but Roger has had until now very easy opponents so tomorrow will be his first test
I bet the crowd will cheer more for Monfils but I think Roger probably will win
And Berdych-Tsonga? it's more difficult to know who will be the winner

Thinking Roger wins this in three unless he serves poorly but he should come out super focused. Berdych is the better play on clay and, likewise, barring a poor serving performance, he should win this I reckon.

I think crowd will be evenly divided as Roger is always loved by French Crowd.

Also, crowd plays less role at Chatrier. Suzanne being a small stadium, the crowd is
electrifying the match over there. So, being in Chatrier would be to Fed's advantage.

I am picking Fed in 3.5 sets (i.e, 3 or 4 sets with 50/50 chance).

In three matches at RG, Gael has won a total of one set against Fed. All these three matches were after the prime time of Fed (2008 and later).

I thought they will make Philippe Chatrier into Davis Cup Action and schedule both Swiss vs. France matches there. Especially considering that Tsonga has already played in Philippe twice
whereas Simon has played just once and Simon is the higher ranked Frenchie at the moment.

But, it looks like I am not the only one who dislikes SImon's counterpunching game.
So, I don't really have complaints, only mild surprise.

Well, we will see Roger will want to keep this match short especially if there might be a rain delay and he has to come back to play a back to back match. The draw was kind to him to an extent, but Indont think he could recover say from a 5 setter to having to play the next day to play catch up.

i think it'll depend on when they actually play. if it's today, early evening on a cold, wet day, then Monfils should be quite dangerous. a mid-day match tomorrow would probably be different.

Rain delays. Would be surprised if we get to see any tennis today.

Playing today would be huge for Roger. First of all Monfils is coming off of 2 straight 5 set matches and the other part is if Roger wins in 4-5 long sets he has 2 days off. Moving this to Monday probably helps Monfil's chances and it also makes it more crucial for Roger to win without too much trouble.
