2 matches are yet to be played, we are waiting.

It's apparent that Genie's win last week has boosted her confidence a great deal, she was playing with it today. Caught Angie completely off guard and stormed past her. That was a heckuva performance against a higher ranked opponent.
Carla is playing great Tennis and she is a natural on this surface but I just can't see CSN being able to stop her, Genie has too much power.

I expect Maria to make a match of this in the 2nd. How will Sam respond is the question.

Nice way to hold serve.

Feeds Sam the bagel! :D Great job.
Samantha had her chances today, she only converted 3 out 10 break chances.
After an initial close set that went Sam's way, Masha really tightened the screws, she came out with flying colors.

I will start the polls and quarter final threads.

^ JJ will need to keep her ufe in check when she plays Errani, also she needs to convert her BP chances, which she failed to do in Rome when they met last.

Thought Stosur played great in the first set today but Sharapova weathered the storm.

RE: The one slam wonders comment, I wasn't trying to discredit any of the girls left in the draw at all, in case that's how it came across.

^ Sam could not maintain her game plan in the later part of the 2nd set
I mean she had her chances in that 2nd set?
Sam went on a complete walk about in the 3rd set.

No worries. But given how the tournament is going, we may not have seen our last upset. And there are plenty still in that would make perfectly credible RG champs. I'm not adverse to a youngster, either. Some future stars have been blossoming this week.

Bouchard is obviously the stand out of the younger ones. I can't say I know an awful lot about Muguruza, I didn't even know she was especially young. Sharapova is obviously a 'credible' champion, as is Halep of course being seeded 4th, Jankovic up there too.
