she said she was nervous because she lost second rd the previous year.Serena is going to be better in her 3rd rd match and will not lose to Vika...tennis fans forget that Serena has never lost to Azarenka at a Grand Slam event...her losses were from the regular tour plus she has the mental advantage we saw how big it is in Madrid.
tennis is about match ups and Vika is as good as her last match...this is a different match. In Rome Azarenka beat Wozniacki easily and lost to pova easily..
its all about match ups...not your last match..:popcorn

I read Serena's elbow has not healed. Is that true?

Might be. It would explain why her serve is slower.

Well good news is at least there is an extra weeks recovery between RG and Wimbledon. Well in her second round presser, Serena said she didn't have a lot of time to practice her serve because of her injury and so she wasn't as confident in her serve right now. I can see why her serve might not be as fast if she wasn't as confident and was just trying to land her serves in. She didn't say anything about her injury still bothering her.

You people do know that Serena is human right...and not super woman. It is amazing that Serena's "fans" expects her to be perfect 24/7. Un-frigging believable...SMH

Solid win by Petra today! Maybe she is finally settling into that monster Grand Slam mode.

By the way, if you haven't done it yet, come on over to the Tennis Frontier map and get your spot marked on the map! The Frontier gang is growing!

Where did I say she had to be perfect? I said she had to pick her game up which she does playing Azarenka. I am not sure why you are having an attitude about it.

I think Tossip might be correct about MKeys , she seems to be just a ball basher, she plays down to the level of her competition. Very disappointing

I think that's significant, too. Thanks for the reminder.

... plus she has the mental advantage we saw how big it is in Madrid.

That was a huge win, IMO, considering how many MPs she saved. And you know it will be on both their minds today. It was a terrific demonstration of Serena's championship mentality.

That said, Vika can be a dangerous opponent for Serena. This could be a battle, but Serena will win.

It will be a tough match regardless and I'm not quite sure who will win. Vika has a chip on her shoulder as she's getting her mojo back. What better way to silence all the nay-sayers than to take down #1 in a slam and avenge the loss in Madrid.

On the other hand, Serena seems very emotional when she plays Vika. I'm not sure if this is because of all the off-court dynamics or what. That French crowd will not show mercy if she gets emotional today. I could see Serena pulling the win out if she stays focused and calm.

I got a funny feeling that Serena is going down in this match. It will go three sets for sure.

And my funny feelings are usually way off. Go Serena!

zarenka should have a chip on her shoulder against pova who disses her in the media..Serena has always been nice to Vika until Sascha joined the her camp.I have been a Serena fan for a long time to know that if she puts a player on the hit list you are gone and never forgives.Zenka has crossed the line into that hitting zone..
Madrid played really fast like a hard court...and when Azarenka had 4 match points she started to doubt in her ability to beat Serena..she was thinking about AO10,USA Open12 where she was in a winning position but lost.
RG is not Cincy or Doha...
