Still possible - Nadal's playing Cuevas in the semis, with Thiem playing Pella. I think they'll meet in the final.

Yup, literally copped that and typed it before I saw your post :)

Btw Carol, my apologies, it's still possible for Thiem and Nadal to play the final. I thought they played next in the semis. Let's hope for that final with us both wanting different results obviously :D

You really have confused me but....it's ok, I forgive you (just temporary) ::sw1::

I thought there might have been something wrong with him in BA, but there is no evidence of it. He was just out-played by Thiem.

I see, Thiem seems to be the future clay champion, but not yet, not yet

This was fun, I have to go now but let's do all this again tomorrow. So we are all in the agreement that the best outcome tomorrow would be wins by Rafa and Dominator?

I don't think too many are waiting with baited breath for a Pella/Cuevas final... :) - Thiem/Nadal is mouthwatering.

It's the right final. Hope it happens. Thiem is shaping up to be one of the best real clay-courters to come up in a long time.

A rematch of the Argentina clash between Nadal and Thiem is my desired outcome and think both should win their semi final clashes!

Morning everyone! Just left Rio, my flight friday night was cancelled, and after eight adorable hours in the airport, I had a three hours nap at the hotel, and flew this morning. Light rain falling right now there, but skies nearby are clear (I saw from above) and I would guess that there won't be rain during the day. If I had a window seat I would taken a photo of the sun rising in Rio to you guys (just to show the weather), but I was on the corridor...

Pella and Cuevas are good clay courters and should not be dismissed. One of them at l;east upsetting the favourite would not surprise me. Pella is on the run of his life, I got to see some highlights and he has all that a good grinder needs... and I can tell that it is HOT in RIo, it will test the players to the limit.

One sided matches are good if the guy losing is losing because the opponent is hitting winners left, right and centre but I personally don't find matches where one guy is spraying errors and playing like crap and the other playing solid but not spectacular and merely winning 'cos the opponent is crap in any way enjoyable viewing. An example of a one sided match where the loser actually played well and still got destroyed was the Doha final between Nadal and Djokovic. Nadal hit very few errors, played a high quality match but still got destroyed 'cos Djokovic was incredible that day.

I'm the same way. I hate a sloppy match. It's one thing if the other player is playing superb tennis and winning, but lack of effort is a no-no. There are other things I can do with my time.
