If he can get past one of the wily veterans in Cuevas or Ramos Vinolas, I think he's got a good chance of beating Djere or Bedene and taking the title.

Active Players Who Won ATP Titles at 18 Years Old: Nadal (x7!), Nishikori, Murray, Gasquet, Monfils.
IF he can. I'll be pulling for him. (Jeepers! on the Nadal stat.)

That was probably the last title won by him also. :lulz1:

Bedene withdraws. That means Djere makes his first career final and is a 500 right away.
He also will jump big time in ranking, around 40 spots, the ranking is still fluid

I don't understand the "small colin" thing. Explain?

Now that Isner, the American, has (thankfully) lost, Tennis Channel has switched over to the Cuevas/FAA match. The young Canadian won the 1st 6-3, and is up a break in the second, 1-0.

EDIT: Cuevas up 3-1 in the 2nd.

@El Dude: You boy FAA is into his first final! Fun match, and apparently he and Cuevas meet again in the first round next week. (São Paulo.) I'm guessing that FAA loses that one.

FAA's level dropped off a lot in the 2nd, and Cuevas, who is wiley, took full advantage. But Felix started off with a break, and was much better in the 3rd. Barely missed a 1st serve. He had 40-0 when serving for it, and seemed a cool customer, but Cuevas fought him back to deuce. Still, Felix's serve and calm got the job done in that game.

Excellent result for Felix.
When was the last time a final of a 500 event was disputed by 2 players ranked this low, 90 and 104?

This was a very solid win from FAA. After losing the second, with all the experience behind the opponent, he toughed it out. Even the final game, leading 40-0, getting to deuce...all great learning experiences for the kid. Very happy for him.

Actually an interesting question. It really does start to feel like the NextGen are having an impact, with Tsitsipas also in the finals in Marseilles. A lot of young players are starting to break out. I know we have to wait until they play the big guns at the bigger tournaments, but they are surely starting to lurk in the background, waiting to pounce.

@Moxie (or anyone), did you watch the match? How did FAA look? Any observations about his game? Does he remind you of anyone - general skillset? I've only watched him in bits and pieces, mostly clips of Futures and Challengers, and haven't seen him in a full ATP match.

I watched from mid-2nd set. I don't have the chops of Broken or Mrzz to analyze a player's game, but this is what I saw: He's got a solid serve. He's very strong. Hits deep, so he keeps his opponent back, at this level of opponent, anyway. (Same yesterday.) Not afraid of coming forward, but not yet sure about what to do when he gets there, though his choices of when to come forward were not poor.

He's got a decent chance of winning tomorrow, though Djere is a clay specialist. I hope he wins. Go, Felix!
