The draw for Rio is out. Rafa is the top seed but will have tough time. He could lose as early as in the second round to Almagro. The only positive thing going for Rafa is that he is not the defending champion here and so will have less pressure.

While we know Rafa will lose, these days it becomes extremely tough to predict to whom he will lose. Some folks who can beat him do not even make it to face him while some unexpected folks beat him adding variety to Rafa's losses. Hence, I have started a poll with this thread in which you get to predict to whom Rafa will lose in Rio. You need to vote within the next 48 hours.

I saw the draw yesterday and asked the same thing of myself! If Almagro had won today, I'd give him a good chance to make 2nd round to challenge Nadal, but now that's he's lost in 3 grueling sets, he might phone it in in his 1st round match to compatriot de la Nava! We'll see by Tuesday! ;-) :p

I know you're only being gloatfully hopeful, while at the same time fearing the kick-in, but shouldn't the name Nadal be on that list? I mean, he beats himself these day, much as anything... ;)

You can always vote for "someone else". It is unfair, I agree, but think of how gloatfully could you be if you turn out be right?

By the way, I am travelling to Rio on a weekly basis, so I will attend to some matches, I suppose.

I am considering the idea of writing a sign and taking it to a Nadal match. I am considering two options:

"Front242, from TennisFrontier.com, says Nadal is the greatest"

or

"Carol35, from TennisFrontier.com, says Nadal sucks".

Please help me decide.

Ask him to sign an autograph, and make it out to, "Front242, your number one fan!" :lolz:

Almagro is currently ranked 72 and he came out of some injury last year. In 2015 Rafa had a bad year and in that year, he beat Almagro three times. So, the chances of Almagro beatin Rafa looks very slim.

I vote for the winner of the match between Dog and Belluci.

I think Nadal will make it to the final. All the people who can beat him are on the other half. He actually got lucky in the draw.

If Rafa hasn't taken advantage of his luck, who's fault is that? He's been given cupcake draws for as long as I can remember, but if he loses to a "wildcard, qualifier, or also-ran" early, that's on him; don't blame the luck because he's extended to the limit or failing! :puzzled :nono :p :cover

Rafa has never had good luck in his career, buddy, you're the historian, you know this... :popcorn

I'm not sure what you're talking about! It isn't bad luck for injuries and "under the table" suspensions to take him out of the game if that's your meaning! :nono  :cover

You're getting like brother Front for your inane silliness. :laydownlaughing

Of course, you used to be a fan of the Deathless One, so that's normal :dodgy: . Watch out now! Since Djoker is catching Fed, they've started on him too. What else can we eggs-pect, eh? ;)

Pretty confident Rafa makes it to the final this time. So the player on the other side who makes it there... he will have the last best chance to beat him. Rafa has to win this one.

I am focusing again on Dominic Thiem here. He needs to follow up strongly on his run in Argentine, in order to send a signal he is ready to challenge for big titles on clay.
