Complaining about the YEC being indoors is not one of those times (where he has a point). Does he not see how ridiculous it'd be to go from indoor hard courts for over a month and then immediately play the biggest event of the Fall on a different surface? I know we had this discussion last year when he first started complaining about it. He doesn't have a point there. Wafa's problem is he has stunk indoors up until this point.

His complaints about the YEC surface are silly. It's the culmination of the indoor season (sort of) so it makes sense that it's played indoor. It would make no sense for players to play 3-4 indoor/fast hard tournaments only to have the WTF on clay.

^I'm not convinced about the wisdom of using antibiotics. The last thing he wants is to have to get an emergency operation in Shanghai. Maybe the healthcare system is good there, I don't know, but surely somewhere in Europe would be best. Why take the risk?

Anyway, regardless of whether he plays or not, this is technically another 6-months season for Nadal, unless he re-finds his form quickly, which he won't given the surface. He'll be fine January.

Actually, Rafa is getting appearance fee in Basel. Last year itself, he was supposed
to play there, but pulled out in the last minute.

Remember that there was a tussle between Fed and this tourney organizers;
at that time they invited Rafa and promised him appearance fee.
