Question to Fed fans - Is there anything Fed can do to get back his legacy?

I think he will never beat Djokovic in a slam again unless Djokovic completely falters AND loses the big points for once. I can't see Federer turning it around on his own.

As far as winning another slam goes, that remains to be seen. I think Wimbledon is his best chance because USO is too bouncy and slow for his game. Nadal and Djokovic are even more difficult there.

Push comes to shove, I think he'll win another slam if it isn't Djokovic or Nadal if Fed just stops choking for the love of god.

hmm I think he has a shot at US Open considering his baseline game is improved tbh and Nadal/Djokovic can't blindly rely on spamming his BH to win matches and they themselves have slowed down a tad esp. Nadal.

Roger Federer has now dropped all the way down to #237 in the Men's Tennis Legacy Rankings, between Alexander "Wacky Fun Stuff" Dolgopolov and Andrey "This Guy Won an ATP 500?" Golubev. He will now be known as Roger "Was Once Great But Is Now a Bum" Federer.

Always exaggerating... why you try to put numbers to it? Everyone knows it should be at least above #200 Marc "I showed Swiss people can get a racquet and don't hurt themselves" Rosset, but is hard to quantify it perfectly. Not until we have a perfect CHOK-O-METER being used on all majors. They said they will test in some junior matches later this year.

Let's say you're right. But don't you think it will feel hollow if he beats a Cilic to do it? Where's the fun in winning slams if you don't beat your main rivals to do it?
That is really interesting.

I feel pretty the same about Novak: if he don’t beat Bull in good shape at RG I always feel there is something he still has to do?
To win a slam and beat your main rivals is the biggest thing in my opinion too, it counts more than beating one of the others!
Looking at this point I don’t see Roger doing this anymore.

From my point , the biggest match imaginable is peak Novak against peak Nadal on clay!
I know it will never happen, would be glad he catches another French.

By the way, I’m a big maestro fan, how could one not be, he’s the most elegant player of all time and one of the GOATs. He doesn’t need to proof that, he already has.

His legacy is still intact but it is under heavy assault by both infidels. A win yesterday and I doubt Djokovic catches him. Rafa would've had a tough time too though I could easily see him win 3 more RG's or more. Now it seems more than likely that at least one will get 20+ especially with no one from Next Gen being remotely relevant yet. So what can Roger do? Win more. Legacy is now on the line more than ever thanks to yesterday's fucking atrocity.

DF thanks for your input but I'm starting to feel Fed is not destined to hold on to it. Do you feel the same? I know what you're saying but what is your gut feeling on this? Is there any hope?

I don't think he will hold onto it. Djokovic's game would need to fall off a cliff again and Nadal would need to get bored of RG or seriously hurt. The best case scenario is that 1 or 2 next gen players become relevant by early next season and actually makes life difficult. That actually seems unlikely at this point. Roger's magic number would be 2 more majors, that would likely hold them both off but seems doubtful now. The match yesterday may have totally dictated history not to mention if a 38 year old grandpa beat those two back to back it'd have been an all-time humiliation and a real point of "could these guys truly be considered as good when they can't beat a gramps 10 years past his prime"?

fuck man it's hurting so much. I can't focus on other things. Don't know how I'll get over this. How can life be so cruel? I don't understand it. Such a beautiful player with such a cruel fate?

He already proofed he’s one of the best ever.
Bull will not win 3 more French , maybe 1-2, and Novak will not win more than 4.
All of them with 20 sounds fair to me!
Nothing cruel or life threatening there man, don’t exaggerate man.

Umm Fed deserves to be atleast 5 clear of these two grinders. But fate has made sure that won't happen. Fed is the far better tennis player than these two skillwise anyway.

He is far better in some skill aspects which matter in this sport, but not in all that matters. Sport is never only about attack and elegance, the perfect mix is what is needed.
I think the best mixture for tennis is represented by Novak.

What mix? Djokovic is the biggest pusher in tennis. On a fast court he gets straight setted by Fed. Look at all the Cincy beatdowns he got. Couldn't make a play. Fed had 40 more winners last match. 40.

Djoko is also innocuous at the net and can't make a proper overhead. Such poor technique.

He beat him at cincy last year. And in 3 finals on grass Grand slam. He has the better BH and Return-game and mindset.
Novak has the better mixture looking overall.
Both are intelligent on court and off court, looking at this point Bull is by far the weakest.

Everyone and their mums were beating Fed last year, doesn't mean much.

Faker is worse of the three at the net. Overall Fed is the best.

Go and watch that Coria/Gaudio match. It's not even in the same hemisphere.

Actually, this is the first match since that where someone blew CPs to lose. So, it's in the same plane allright.

If he keeps choking away matches like yesterday to his main rivals then your tag isn't far away from describing him.
