Maria rallies and is poised to take the second set. behind 1-3, Masha won 3 games in a row to lead the second set 4-3, she will serve next.
I have to admit, a 3 setter favors the Champion.

The momentum totally switched and Maria's up a break in the 3rd, with Ivanovic confounded now than assured.

Wow…Ivanovic really fell apart in that one. But Maria turned it up when she was in big trouble. Congrats to Sharapova on her third Porsche.

Congrats to Maria (and to her ardent supporters such as My Sherona and Masha fan)
for winning a title after long time.

Assuming Vika is not playing in FO, what would be the expected seeding of Maria?

Just watched the replay. Great fight from Maria and not getting flustered after that first set.
Congrats to Masha fans.

So I take it, Maria and her boo, Grigor are gonna be doing some heavy "celebrating" with both of them winning titles this week.

This is crazy. The winners trophy and the runner-up trophy look identical in both size
and shape (except for the inscription in it that say winner and runner up).

Is this the modern politically correct approach to trophy design or am I not seeing
something properly.

First congrats to Maria for her tripeat. In general it was a nice week on clay. I was especially happy about the performance of Ana - she must be very close to her very best. If she can maintain the play from first set in the final she can beat anyone. But also Maria made a big impression - her fighting spirit is absolutely fantastic. I watched the Safarova match which I think was the best match of the week - both ladies fought like gladiators and Safarova must have gained a lot of confidence from that match. Well done ladies.:clap:clap

About Vika - my advice is that she should first return for the grass season. No point in turning up to a tournament without any battle training on clay. Better safe than sorrow.

Was there ever serious doubt Pova would win? She beats almost everyone with her mental toughness. Ana is the better player, but she lacks fight. I do not mean to criticize. Anyone who can play on tv should be admired. It is natural to succumb to nerves, and a rarity to hit through shots when under pressure. That really is Pova's biggest weapon.

I agree with Hoergren. Vika should return on grass. No sense risking re-injury.

I loved this comment in regards to Sharapova's 3rd title in Stuggart

'Her dog must have its own Porsche by now'.................:)

In regard's to Azarenka's return it would not surprise me if she skips Wimbledon this year.
