The Open 13 is one of five French tournaments on the ATP World Tour calendar. The tournament, to be played 20-26 February 2017, is held on the Mediterranean coast in the city of Marseille. Former ATP World Tour player Jean-Francois Caujolle was a driving force in bringing a tour-level event to his hometown, and since the inaugural event in 1993, six Frenchmen have lifted the Marseille trophy, including Guy Forget in 1996; Fabrice Santoro, 1999; Arnaud Clement, 2006; Gilles Simon, 2007 and 2015; Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 2009 and 2013; and Michael Llodra, 2011. About Marseille

Travelogue by @Billie

Marseille is a rich, pulsing port city bubbling over with history, cutting-edge creative spaces and hip multicultural urbanites. Since Greek settlers came ashore around 600 BC, waves of immigrants have made Marseille (now France's second-largest city) their home.

The city is looking fabulous after its tenure as the European Capital of Culture in 2013. Its maritime heritage thrives at the vibrant Vieux Port (Old Port), or you can explore the ancient Le Panier neighbourhood, set on a hill above the water; the République quarter, with its swanky boutiques and Haussmannian buildings; and the stunning contemporary architecture of the Joliette area around Marseille’s famous striped Cathédrale de la Major. Along the coast, seaside roads and cycling tracks veer around sun-scorched coves and sandy beaches.

5 of 8 seeds are frenchies.

Indoor court, 250 event, loads of French players... Smells like a Zverev victory again here. :snicker

Dimitrov was due to play here but has chosen to withdraw. Probably a wise choice - he's played a lot of tennis recently.

Not Sasha. He was eliminated today by an unseeded Frenchie, Mahut.

If Zverev doesn't take more care with his schedule I don't see him doing something good, he doesn't look to be a strong guy starting with his "chicken legs" :cover:nono

Alexander Zverev loses early again. What's up with this guy? It's possible that he rises up in the future but what's up with this 'future great' losing in openers to nobodies??

Honestly, I don't find him interesting yet. Just doesn't have solutions when someone rushes to the net. And, I don't think he places his backhands well. All because he has a lot of power, it doesn't mean he shouldn't place them well.

Actually, there is no youngster who is truly mesmerising in terms of talent and tennis IQ. I can't see anyone. I don't know what is this rush of young players we are talking about. Zverev is like this and Kyrgios does not have the spirit of a champion, or a serious athlete, for that matter. Disgusting!

If there's anyone whose shot remains distinctively clear in my mind, it is Rublev's. I still remember his flamboyant forehand at AO no matter how badly he lost to Murray. I became fond of his forehand.

Despite that, a crowded Zverev bandwagon left the station ;)
I am not on it, I could not get a ticket anymore, even at the scalpers

he is still young and will have plenty of time to develop, but I also cannot see him a threat in the big events in this current version.
