I did not realize that Stan reads my posts. ;) Good move Stan, no need to play three weeks
in a row and in a lowly event. You are top dog now and should act accordingly.

Early prediction, Gabashville wins this. He has been playing good of late.

Hm. Milos has not been upset (defeated by a lower ranked player) this year, except the AO, when he was injured and lost to Dimitrov, which is otherwise an acceptable loss.

Gaba is in Milos's Quarter, so I will be extremely disappointed to see him lose that match.
I am expecting Milos to make at least the SF, but the F should be a normal result by him, because he has been in good form in the last few events.

I bet Tomas got a last minute deal to replace Stan from the organizers. Without Stan, the field would have looked quite weak, as it is a big gap behind the top 2 seed.
In Munich in comparison, while you do not have a top 10 player, the average seeded player is higher ranked.

While I don't know for sure as to how things work, I have a hunch that they would
not have let Stan off the hook if they were unable to recruit Berdych. I think that
is the reason why they had to wait until the last minute to announce the switch.
The interesting questions is whether Stan is forced to pay Berdych's appearance fee
via the organizers.

Birdie accepted a WC, he's got a lot of points to defend on clay. Stan needs some rest, nice move guy

This is an upset, Mayer taking out Sousa.
Sousa makes an awful sound at every stroke. Many players are actually. It used to be mainly women, but now guys are more and more vocal as well.

Yeah, REALLY annoying. We should make a list of worst offenders. Granollers comes to mind. And your guy Ferrer I'm afraid. Ferrer actually grunts sometimes (when in a real battle) when the opponent hits the ball. Probably not intentional, but bad sportsmanship nonetheless.

Beside the surprising elimination of Sousa, 2 more have been recorded today:

Kubot - Gabashvili 6-3, 7-5
Machado - Tursunov 6-0, 6-0 (this is not a typo)

EDIT: Machado has not played so far this season and is ranked 243

Poor Tursunov. Makes you wonder if the injury he had has resurfaced. He's played some decent matches on clay even if it was a long time ago. Especially the DC match against Roddick many moons ago. Maybe he was just outplayed but when I see a scoreline like that, especially in ATP, it makes you think there was more involved than one guy playing unbelievable and the other not.

Yeah, a double bagel is rare in the ATP. Guys can usually win at least one game. If he was injured, then you have to give him credit for finishing the match, while also hoping he didn't complicate matters.
