When is Nole getting married? They're analysing it briefly on tennis.com, giving the stats on nefarious marriage! It ruins a chappy, apparently, although I have to say, it hasn't affected my game, so what does Bodo know, after all?

I actually think that marriage will inspire Nole. He's that kind of guy. He's a team player. He helped Serbia win the DC and his career went into overdrive. Nole plays well when he plays for others and I think he'll play better this year because of it.

He returns in Dubai, and it'll be good to see him again. He's number 10 in the Race, but watch that feller climb...

I think also, if we apply El Dude's Theory of Tennis Peaks (that chaps are peaking later than they used to - and it's true!), then Nole marrying at 27 (same age as Roger, apparently) shouldn't mean he's flushing his tennis down the jacks. I think he'll be fine as well, and competitive at every slam for the next four years or more...

Novak has been with Jelena for some years now. She runs his foundation. Like Roger and Mirka, or Nadal and Maria Francisca, or Andy and Kim…I don't see how one day in a tux would change their lives.

nefarious marriage eh ??

its the 'johnandyoko' syndrome..one minute yoko was some Japanese chick with a 'far out' exhibition, next minute she is squatting on top of some speakers giving the fab 4 the benefit of her "advice" while they record the white album..

so then jelena..over to you, you lithe and foxy minstrel.

Oh marriage changes everything, my dear! Being married isn't a bit like living together. It's so much more, and better. But in this case, I think marriage won't affect Nole adversely. I don't think it affected any other players adversely, they just happened to be older and at a less intense stage of life when they "settled down..."

By the way, sista moxie, I didn't mean that to sound as if I'm more an expert on these things than anybody else! I just think, with marriage the commitment is more assertive and deeper than just a day in a tux, or even living together. They say you sow your wild oats then settle down. The implication is that you've gotten something out if your system and are ready to simplify. A lot of players get the more selfish part of their career out of their system then commit to marriage. The reasoning being, they've done what they came to do and can move on.

I think marriage is a progression into better things, but less selfish. But in this case I believe the best of marriage will bring the best out of Nole, and I hope it does...

Oh But it does changes the landscape of the relationship.. The partnership becomes a big business relationship when the I do's are exchanged.

Dear brother Kieran, I think this is only something that can be judged on an individual basis. Some marriages seem to enhance an athlete, while others can be a distraction and can undercut a player's career. Federer is a case of the former, while Agassi is a case of the latter. Tom Brady seems to have been made better off. Dwyane Wade lost a good amount of time because of his philandering with Gabrielle Union and the subsequent drawn-out divorce with his wife.

Again, it's an individual case-by-case matter. If this was our good friend ricardo getting married to moxie, then yes, his career would probably be destined for destruction, given the nature of their relationship. Just kidding Moxie - chill out.

No, but Moxie would flourish. I mean, going deep in tourneys means more time away from home, right? ;)

Oh Kieran, how cold of you. Ricardo knows his stuff. He just gets on your nerves with his occasional well-reasoned Nadal criticism.

How homophobic of you to say this. Isn't marriage do splendid that we want the inhumanely repressed gay populations of the world to be able to marry???? It has to mean so much more than just one day in a tux if we want all of those fabulous treasures of humanity to be able to marry.

I guarantee that if Michael Sam married Jason Collins, both of their careers would take off to new heights. They would both be inspired and invigorated by having the opportunity to live their lives openly, and not in the shadows or the closet. Big ol Mike Sam would want to sack those QB's more than ever!

Marriage would be about so much more for them than just one day in a tux. Please show more reverence for the cause of gay people. Thank you.

Marriage equality!

Why don't you explain why Ricardo is such a fool?

You aren't Francophobic, are you?

He's a sexist troll.

He's French? Never even knew it. Wouldn't matter. I don't like the way he addresses female posters...

Well, I have only read some of his exchanges with Moxie. I have missed any other ones that you are referencing.
