That would be mind boggling. If he does win on Sunday, then the pressure is back on at the French, not just to win it for the first time, but to also complete his version of the Serena Slam. Egg or no, that's a huge amount of mental pressure.

Don't worry man, he is winning the RG this year...that's the good news. But he is losing to Milos at Wimby, which might upset you a bit :snicker

If he gets that FO out of the way, I won't mind at all if Milos takes Wimbledon! I've been griping long enough for a winner outside the present "Big 4" or 5! Looking at Wiki page for majors and Masters is just plain embarrassing with the same names again and again! Federer's name goes back to 2002 Hamburg when he was the 11th seed winning of Safin! Sampras was actually still playing, but lost in the 1st round! So from 2002 thru 2015 with the additions of Nadal and Djokovic, the tour has just been a homage to these few players for the last 15 years and counting! Reminds me of the Martina and Chris era! :cover

Very well could be... that is one crushing game - on grass it's like Philippoussis was. Problem is he keeps getting tweaks in that big old body of his, kind of the way Philippoussis did too. :(

Seven wins in France away from holding all the slam titles.

Three slams from tying Nadal.

Six from tying Fed.

Federer still seems pretty far in the distance (although more and more a possibility), but it's getting very hard to see Novak not catching Rafa. If Novak wins 14 slams and the Nole slam, does he become the number 2 greatest of all time? I think with this win, he is pretty undeniably in the top of the open era.

This year will be so important in terms of numbers for Djokovic as I am sure it won't get any easier at some point. I think if he can get at least 3 this year he stands a shot at getting past Roger.

If that happens, then his h2h with his four peers will factor in to the equation. Rafa may still have another Frencher in there somewhere.

I don't think Novak even needs Nole Slam. If he can reach 14 and get CGS, he will definitely considered #2, ahead of Rafa. But, if he gets 14 without RG, I would put Rafa before him.

I think Novak definitely passes Rafa among the all-time greats when he wins the French Open. Already right now his overall career accomplishments are very close, his year-end numbers ones and weeks at #1 balancing out Rafa's higher Slam total. But he needs that FO to definitively pass him, in my opinion.

I think it is fairly safe to say that Nole will be considered the most accomplished hard court player of the Open Era when all is said and done. The only guy with more hard court titles and majors (by only 1 major now) is Federer. I don't know how many titles Nole has won on grass and clay, but he could shoot for a great stat that only Federer has in the Open Era (if memory serves)--winning 10 titles on the three different surfaces in a career. Federer has done that, but I don't think Novak has 10 titles on either grass or clay, YET! We will see.

A Nole Slam is a definite possibility. He may need a bit of luck in the draws, eg, avoiding Stan at FO and Raonic at Wimby. I would not be surprised to see his major count at 14 this year.

After to read all the Navak's fans wishes about to win RG I'm thinking that maybe Nice will be his tournament. If Rafa wake up and plays like he knows then Novak, Stan, Raonic and others will have to try another year again, their fans too :snicker

Yes, now at RG he'll be going for:

Career Slam
Nole Slam
Calendar Year Grand Slam
Calendar Year Golden Slam

No pressure, Novak...;)

Q. You mentioned Rod Laver earlier, and of course what he did in 1969. Is that idea of a calendar-year Grand Slam something that ever entered your mind as something to try to aim for or dream of? Now that you're halfway there, which is rare just to get the first two of the year, does it seem achievable and something you want to strive for now?
NOVAK DJOKOVIC: Well, I don't want to sound arrogant, but I really -- I really think everything is achievable in life. You know, winning this trophy today gave me so much happiness and fulfillment. I'm trying to grasp and I'm trying to cherish, obviously, these moments right now.

Whether or not I can reach a calendar slam, that's still a possibility. But, you know, I don't think about it right now. You know, right now I just try to enjoy this experience of winning the trophy that I never won before.
