Calitennis contacted me before the match, and shared his thoughts of why Novak would win in three. He was correct.

Did he share his thoughts on his terrific OP?

Nope.. just that Novak was going to beat Ralf in three.

You mean Cali totally ignored an instance where he was wrong and did a 180? Color me shocked.

He says that every year. Did he say anything different this time?

No, but he did say one of you would make that comment! :snicker

If a broken clock recognizes that it's broken, does that make it any less broken?

PS: The irony of this conversation taking place in a thread in which Cali claims there's no reason to be optimistic about Novak beating Nadal shouldn't be lost on you...

I like the irony! :D

Novak won it in three today, battled through his nervy hiccups, steadied the ship and ran away with it in the third. Huge irony.

This is also hearsay. IMO, we can leave Cali out of the proceedings today.

Yes, and the guy you're gloating about being right created this very thread to claim there's no reason to be optimistic about the very guy who did the things you mentioned in your above post.

How is any of what you said above relevant to the point at hand?

I expected gloating. I didn't expect idiocy. Actually I did, but the culprits are surprising.

I apologize for doubting you, lord Cali. As always, your prediction where Nostradamus like. You sir, are a wise sage. Thread title was as pin point as Stan's backhand. Congrats on yet another accurate prediction. Egg on my and everyone else's faces.

Actually, I think the best scenario for Novak would be to meet Rafa in Quarterfinals.
Then, it would be easy for Novak to focus on prior matches without distractions. Assuming
he can win out the QF against Rafa, Novak may lose focus little bit in his SF match; but,
his SF opponent is likely to be weaker than his F opponent and so the minor loss of
focus may only cost him a set or two and not the match.

Then, when he comes to the final he will be fully focused and lift the trophy as
his win over Rafa is far back in the rearview mirror.

I think the ideal situation has worked out for Novak.

1. Rafa will not lose before facing Novak, so no pressure early on Novak.
2. Novak will defeat Rafa in QF (most probably in 4 sets).
3. Novak will lose focus and be pushed to 5 sets in SF by Andy/Ferrer, but will eventually win.
4. With deadly focus, Novak will defeat the finalist in three sets.

Time to bump up this thread.

Time to bump this post.

Time to bump this post.

Thanks for pointing out that I got 3 of 4 predictions (that were made before FO started and
after the draw was made). If I bumped it up myself, it will look like gloating.
