You guys may not have to wait very long.

Rafa is rumored to possibly play in Bastad beginning July 20 and Hamburg beginning July 27.
He has said he will confirm in a few days about these. He has said that he will not play in any other tourneys besides these two before Canada Masters.

He is mirroring what Roger did in 2013, after his early exit at Wimbledon. We know how well that campaign turned out for him:
scored a loss to Del Bonis in Hamburg and then a loss to Daniel Brands, in Gstaad.
He also collected there a cow and a back injury.
Looking back it was a bad decision. Hopefully for Nadal will be more worth the effort. Or more opportunities for low calibre players, who usually play in these events to score a big scalp, which they will be able to cherish for the rest of their life.

That's when Roger was testing a new racquet, so he went to those tournaments to try it out. Don't read too much into those losses. Even as someone who roots for Delbonis (one word), I'm aware of the circumstances surrounding his win over Roger.

It is also anticipated that Rafa will test out his new racquet (which he did and abandoned in the middle earlier this year).

Different players, different situations, different years, bad comparison.

Rafa has said "no" to Bastad organizers. He is still considering Hamburg ATP 500 though. He has not confirmed that either. But, if at all he plays some tourney before Canada Masters, it will be Hamburg. That part is clear. He will not play in any other tourneys before Canada Masters.

I haven't looked, but so far Ferrer is seeded 1st at the next event with a huge drop off after that to players not ranked in the top 20; no Nadal! I suppose he can call up for a WC at the last minute, but for now I don't see where he's playing to get in some work! It obviously won't be the HOF in Newport! lol! :snicker :laydownlaughing

It seems to have been just rumors. He does not need another clay event right now. Better focus on HC because that is where he will need to play for the rest of the season, starting August anyway.

No, they are not rumors. Rafa was considering playing in clay events after Wimbledon to get more match practice. He short listed Bastad and Hamburg. He has now said no to Bastad. I actually, fully expect him to play in Hamburg, even though it is not confirmed yet.

hambourg clay atp500 tourney ?..why not, can't be too many scary players in it..

lets face it, he could do with a morale boosting title before the switch to hc for rest of 2015.
