I saw most of the 3rd set. She just choked. It's the typical letdown after when you don't break. She had BPs to go up 2 breaks and she wasted them making stupid errors. When she served for the match she was still thinking about those missed opportunities and got broken at love. Like you said, it's unacceptable from world #1 especially to a lower ranked player..

Great result for Kiki Bertens who has made her second consecutive final in Madrid defeating Stephens 62 75 she will face Halep in the final.
Halep if she wins the title will be back at No1.

Well deserved for Simona if she gets back to #1. I get the impression Naomi isn't feeling great about being the hunted.

Congrats to Kiki winning the biggest title of her career thus far.Kiki has to be one of the top contenders for RG this year, she has a great game on clay.....and my 'dark horse to win the title'

Kiki will now be ranked No 4 after this title win.Apparently the first woman player to win Madrid without losing a set (WTA Insider).....BTW I sent them another email regarding Petra still no reply.

Halep will have to wait awhile to regain #1. She has finalist points next week and 2000 at RG to defend.

When’s the last time someone served at 87%, but lost the match? Or served at 87%, but only won about half of those points? Or served at 87%, yet hit only 9 winners?

@Fiero425, I’ll leave it up to you to provide expert emoji commentary.

Well when your serves' about as puffy as France's tennis retiree, Francios Durr, you have to expect to be broken a lot! :nono:  :banghead:
